With the Diablo series turning 30 later this year, Blizzard has begun the celebrating, revealing new information for the upcoming Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo IV, as well as a brand-new DLC for the 2021 remaster Diablo II: Resurrected. In addition, the latter is now available on Steam as the Infernal Edition, which includes the new “Reign of the Warlock” DLC.
The Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred expansion sees players return to Sanctuary to confront Mephisto’s growing influence. In addition to the previously-announced return of the Paladin class, the Warlock will also be joining the fight, bringing with it metal chains, flames, and destructive power that turn the wrath of Hell against itself.
The expansion will also include a brand-new area in Skovos. The new region brings will it new characters, quests, and monsters as players explore Mediterranean-inspired landscapes where humanity first emerged in Sanctuary.
The endgame for Lord of Hatred has also seen a revamp, giving players greater control over progression and challenge. War Plans introduces customizable activity paths that allow players to shape their experience, while the Echoing Hatred encounters have players tackling escalating waves of increasingly difficult enemies.
As for Diablo II: Resurrected, “Reign of the Warlock” adds the Warlock class, which is focused on demon summoning, binding and transformation. Like Diablo IV, Resurrected has also been given new endgame challenges. Players can earn consumables and choose which acts are Terrorized, which ratchets up the difficulty and the resultant rewards. Conquering Terrorized Act bosses in Hell difficulty has a chance to unveil one of five mystical statues. Combine the statues to unlock a new boss battle, the Colossal Ancients, which will further stretch your skills and builds.
There are also new quality-of-life updates in the DLC, adding loot filters, advanced stash tabs, and an all-new Chronicle system to track your treasure-hunting, and gain new rewards after completion.
Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred will launch April 26 for PC via Steam and Battle.net, Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Diablo II: Resurrected is also available on Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
