New “Penitentiary & Kicking Update” Comes to ‘PIGFACE’ March 12 [Trailer]

Published

on

As part of PIGFACE’s ongoing Early Access journey on Steam, developer titolovesyou and DreadXP have announced a new expansion for the ultra-violent FPS that’s set to drop next week. The Penitentiary & Kicking Update adds new content and mechanics, as well as quality-of-life and bug fixes. Alongside the announcement of the upcoming update, the game’s development roadmap has also been revealed, outlining new content for the coming months as the game approaches its 1.0 launch later this year.

The Penitentiary & Kicking Update adds a new story level taking place in a prison rave and a subway station death trap bonus level. Tito has also added new weapons, a new special ability mask – the pink Cowgirl Hat – which provides buffs to pistol gameplay, and a highly requested ability: kicking. As with the early Mall Update, this new update adds new ways for you to complete your job, aka killing. Additionally, PIGFACE will be getting two new cutscenes, plus the option to skip cutscenes, and a handful of QoL tweaks and bug fixes.

PIGFACE casts you as Exit, a terrible woman with a terrible past, who is about to pay the price. Covered in your own blood, you wake up in an empty warehouse with an explosive headache. A phone rings across the room, and the caller on the other end reveals that Exit has had a bomb implanted at the base of her skull. As a result, you’re now their gun-for-hire, with no choice but to cooperate.

Complete missions to earn money and upgrade your arsenal with new gear from the Black Market. Taking a cue from Hotline Miami, you will unlock a wide range of masks, each enhancing a different skillset to customize your gameplay.

Bloody Body Horror Revealed in ‘Stellar Blade: Blood Rain’, Currently in Development [Trailer]

Shift Up has shifted things dramatically from 2024’s action-adventure game Stellar Blade, offering up a body horror bonanza in the newly announced sequel, Stellar Blade: Blood Rain. The sequel is currently early in development, but if the trailer is any indication, players will be in for plenty of body horror.

Continuing the story from the original Stellar Blade, Blood Rain will star a new protagonist named Eve. Earth has been abandoned, and what is left of humanity has fled to a Colony in outer space.

Shift Up had mentioned during a Q&A following its latest earnings presentation last month that development on Blood Rain (which was still unannounced at the time) was progressing smoothly, and was on track to meet their targeted quality standards.

Shift Up stated that with this new title it would be transitioning to a first-party service model, effectively moving away from the restrictions the game experienced with original publisher Sony, which had the game under an exclusivity agreement for the PlayStation 5. “This will allow us to lead marketing strategies that fully reflect the distinctive identity of the Stellar Blade IP, and we expect to communicate the unique appeal of its universe to players more directly and effectively.”

Whether this means that Xbox Players will finally be able to play the original game (or its sequel) is still not clear. Meanwhile, Stellar Blade is reportedly being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, but no official confirmation has been made.
