New “Reap What You Sow” Update Revamps Wild West Turn-Based Strategy Title ‘Nightmare Frontier’

Ice Code Games has launched a new update for their tactical turn-based strategy and extraction looter title Nightmare Frontier. Currently still in Early Access on Steam, the “Reap What You Sow” transforms the way you survive, progress, and face the end. Complete with a terrifying reimagining of the Death now stalking the higher tiers, it’s no longer just about how long you can survive—but how you’ll answer when the Reaper comes around.

Among the new features in the update sees the Headquarters Menu introduced with 3 trees for unlocks and upgrades of game mechanics, where players can change the percentage of items retained after a failed run, backpack capacity, additional Party slots and more.

Breaches are another new mechanic, which also introduces a new objective for players. These Breaches spawn one Dreadweaver at the start of each enemy turn, unless the cell is blocked by a unit. Breaches can spawn between 3 to 5 Dreadweavers in total and can be closed by the player. The objective is to close all Breaches present on a level, where player can either walk up to all of them and seal them by melee range interaction, or survive long enough for Breaches to spawn all remaining Dreadweavers and seal automatically.

The update also introduces three new sidequests with custom dialogues, multiple endings and various rewards depending on the chosen questpath.

And as mentioned, Fear of Death has been reimagined, featuring a Grim Reaper enemy with new playstyle that spawns on Nightmare level IV, as well as a Coffin interactable spawning on Nightmare level II. Take case, as the Coffin has the ability to swallow units whole.
