Just in time for Kane Parsons‘ adaptation of Backrooms to hit theatres today, Fancy Games and Blackbird Interactive’s Escape The Backrooms has hit PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. Previously launching on Steam, the console version of Escape The Backrooms features full cross-platform play with each other and Steam, as well as containing all the content released for the Steam edition since it first launched in Early Access in 2022.
No-clip beyond the bounds of reality and explore haunting liminal spaces, from iconic yellow hallways and echoing pool rooms to horrific hotels and bone-chilling birthday parties. Wander solo or with up to three friends in online co-op, hunting for exits to help you descend further into the Backrooms. Run and hide from the terrifying entities that stalk your every move and hear your every conversation. Maintain your sanity by quickly finding exits and drinking tasty almond water or succumb to smiling visions that will never let you leave.
The Backrooms are only seemingly endless… right? Find out for yourself by returning to the Backrooms to uncover secret levels and unlock new endings. Test yourself in Nightmare Mode, where a single death leads to a full restart. The horrors don’t end just because you’ve escaped…
And as mentioned, the console editions of Escape The Backrooms also includes the Winter Wanderer and Chinese New Year cosmetic items to add some frivolity to your fear-fuelled adventures, with more content to be added in the future.
Meanwhile, Parsons’ Backrooms opens in theatres today, starring Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. Check out Meagan’s review of the film.
