While Steam Next Fest is underway, horror fans will be waiting for Steam Scream V Fest, which kicks off on October 26. Publisher Kitsundie Tales and Furistic Studio will be releasing the demo for upcoming psychological survival horror game PENANCE during the latter, giving players an opportunity to experience the game during the appropriately-themed Steam event.
The demo will remain available throughout Steam Scream V Fest and until the next Steam Next Fest, scheduled for February 2027. During this period, the development team will collect and review player feedback, using community insights to guide improvements and further polish the game ahead of its full release.
Currently aiming for a February 2027 release on Steam, PENANCE follows Calen, a former ranger navigating a disturbing and dangerous world that was supposed to save humanity. But something went wrong, and what once seemed like humanity’s solution became a nightmare.
Sienna, your wife, is missing. All she left behind is a note. Now, you must find her. But when night falls, creatures begin to move through the fog. You must survive if you hope to return to the life you once dreamed of. But a secret can change everything, and the deeper you go, the more the truth begins to reveal itself.
PENANCE features a day and night mechanic, where daylight offers time to explore and face human enemies. But at night, you’ll face the creatures that lurk in the fog. You must utilize stealth to survive, while also scavenging for supplies and ammunition.
While the demo is out, the team is working hard to deliver a polished experience, with a strong focus on narrative immersion, atmosphere, and smooth gameplay mechanics. Players are encouraged to report any issues they discover or any feedback, via form available on the game’s menu, or directly on the game’s official Discord server.
