After giving potential players a taste of what’s to come with last week’s demo, solo developer Ryan Laley‘s mix of Among Us and Alien Isolation in Mimic is out now in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. In addition, Laley has posted a rough roadmap for Mimic while in Early Access, outlining new content, features, and improvements for the game.
“Early Access means exactly that,” states Laley. “Mimic isn’t finished, and there will undoubtedly be bugs, rough edges, and things that need improving. I also want to be careful not to promise specific delivery dates for upcoming features. As a solo developer, priorities can change, particularly when unexpected technical challenges arise or community feedback highlights something more important.
“What I can promise is a commitment to continually improving Mimic, being open about development, and doing everything I can to make it the best experience possible.”
As for what’s to come, Laley plans on adding three brand-new maps, with each location offering its own atmosphere, challenges, and secrets to uncover.
There are also plans to expand the game’s affix system with new modifiers in order to “shake up the rules”, as well as new secrets, hidden discoveries, and additional lore.

Inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing, Secret Hitler, and Alien: Isolation, players in Mimic must escape the crumbling Icarus spacecraft while rooting out who amongst them is secretly a mimic: an alien creature that can disguise itself as a fellow human survivor. Players must solve various objectives to create their escape route while surviving against two sinister threats pursuing them. Meanwhile, as the titular Mimic, you’ll hunt from the shadows, hiding beneath the flesh of a friend.
With five players in online matchmaking and up to ten in customizable private lobbies, Mimic aims to blend tense survival, social deduction, and dynamic mechanics into a highly replayable multiplayer experience.
In addition to PC, Mimic will also launch for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series once the game exits Early Access next year.
