‘The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu’ Gets Into the Season with the Free “The Cult of Tsathoggua” Update [Trailer]

It’s only appropriate that ACE Team is treating fans of their cooperative horror game The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu with a free major update for Halloween. “The Cult of Tsathoggua” is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series, bringing with it new unspeakable terrors for those who love Lovecraftian stories.

It is said, that among the many monstrosities inhabiting the cursed continent, some rise to the rank of deities. Tsathoggua is one such entity: an evil being with a grotesque appearance reminiscent of an oversized amphibian. The Great Old One lurks somewhere deep within the bowels of the cursed continent, and only the most daring adventurers can flush it out.

In addition to an area dedicated to Tsathoggua, this update introduces other new features to The Mound:

  • Revamped Treasure Shrines: Collecting valuable items will be riskier, as some of them may alert nearby monsters, summon creatures, or deal damage to players.
  • New weapons and occult items to fend off monsters, and even pit them against each other.
  • Revamped progression: Players can now reach level 70 and spend their earned skill points to unlock additional abilities, such as resistance to bleeding, extra stamina, or movement speed.
  • New sanity effects: Are you sure you’re holding a sword or a spear in your hands…?

Inspired by the short story “The Mound” by H.P. Lovecraft, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu invites solo players or squads of up to four members to set out for an uncharted continent in search of a legendary city containing priceless treasures. Armed with 15th-century weapons, the vulnerable squad must advance cautiously to face unspeakable horrors while keeping a close eye on their dwindling sanity, which will cause panic and confusion within the group.
