Syfy’s “Helix” returns tonight for the sixth episode of Season 2.
The show has really amped up the gore and tension, a can be seen the following exclusive clip, as well as two others from earlier in the season.
“Helix” returns fifteen months following the demise of Arctic Biosystems when the CDC team, with the addition of biotoxicologist Kyle Sommer, responds to a potential disease outbreak on a windjammer in the Northern Pacific.
Their search for the cause of the outbreak leads the team, now lead by Peter Farragut, to an island occupied by a mysterious cult growing genetically modified crops.
Meanwhile, 40 years in the future, Julia Walker arrives at the same island searching for Alan Farragut.
Matt Long joined the cast as a series regular. Long plays Dr. Kyle Sommer, the newest member of the CDC team, a world-class toxicologist whose charm matches his sharp intellect. A preacher’s son from Texas, he is quick with a story or a joke, able to ingratiate himself into any group.
Steven Weber is new to season 2 as a recurring guest star. Weber will portray Brother Michael, the charismatic leader of the cult. Magnetic and charming, he is brilliant speaker and sermonizer, but also a first-class geneticist.
In addition to Billy Campbell, Kyra Zagorsky, Neil Napier and Jordan Hayes returned.
