The Strain on FX

Your whole world can change in the matter of seconds.

FX is preparing for their vampire war, which continues this summer in the second season of Guillermo del Toro’s “The Strain.”

A second teaser promo has been released that asks, can you trust her? I guess some of the infected may look normal? Do they evolve?

Watch the first “The Strain” promo here.

Max Charles, just seen in American Sniper opposite Bradley Cooper, has been cast in the part as a regular, replacing Ben Hyland, who played Zach Goodweather in Season 1. “West Wing” alum Ron Canada also landed the recurring role of the crisis-bungling NYC mayor.

In “The Strain,” “When a freak virus kills all but four passengers on an airplane at JFK, Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), head of the Center for Disease Control’s “Canary Team,” is immediately called to the scene. With help from a mysterious Holocaust survivor (David Bradley), “Eph” and his colleague (Mía Maestro) uncover the outbreak’s ties to vampirism. Now, the only way to stop the terrifying disease from wiping out mankind is to face its source – a sinister supernatural creature known as “The Master” – whose evil intent seems more powerful than any other force on Earth!

The small screen MonsterVerse is expanding with a “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” spinoff series centered on Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell), and Deadline brings us the latest casting news.

Corey Stoll (Imperfect Women, Billions), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), and Nyasha Hatendi (Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials, Casual) have signed on.

Pilou Asbæk (Salem’s Lot) and Millie Brady (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) also star.

Originally announced back in December, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” showrunner and “Monarch” executive producer Joby Harold will serve as showrunner on the untitled spinoff series.

The series will follow Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.

Wyatt Russell told Collider earlier this year, “you’ve got absolutely no fucking clue what to expect. I think people are going to expect one thing and be like, ‘Holy shit, this is not what I expected.’ It’ll go deeper into Lee’s experience after he came up, and being sort of put on ice, in 1982, and then what happens after that, and why he’s needed and the mission he goes on.”
