“Scream” Promo Introduces “Likable Characters”
In my review of MTV’s “Scream,” I poke fun at a character who gives a hilarious monologue about movies creating “likable characters” (so the viewer feels emotional when they die) in a series with no likable characters.
MTV has released a new promo that actually shares this moment, although you won’t be able to see what I’m talking about until the “Scream” premiere on June 30th.
In “Scream,” “What starts as a YouTube video going viral, soon leads to problems for the teenagers of Lakewood and serves as the catalyst for a murder that opens up a window to the town’s troubled past.“
The cast of “Scream” includes Willa Fitzgerald, Taylor-Klaus, Bobby Campo, Connor Weil and Joel Gretsch.

Ralph Ineson and Corey Stoll Join ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’ Spinoff Series Starring Wyatt Russell
The small screen MonsterVerse is expanding with a “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” spinoff series centered on Lee Shaw (Wyatt Russell), and Deadline brings us the latest casting news.
Corey Stoll (Imperfect Women, Billions), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), and Nyasha Hatendi (Agatha Christie’s The Seven Dials, Casual) have signed on.
Pilou Asbæk (Salem’s Lot) and Millie Brady (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) also star.
Originally announced back in December, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” showrunner and “Monarch” executive producer Joby Harold will serve as showrunner on the untitled spinoff series.
The series will follow Colonel Lee Shaw, an American operative who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
Wyatt Russell told Collider earlier this year, “you’ve got absolutely no fucking clue what to expect. I think people are going to expect one thing and be like, ‘Holy shit, this is not what I expected.’ It’ll go deeper into Lee’s experience after he came up, and being sort of put on ice, in 1982, and then what happens after that, and why he’s needed and the mission he goes on.”
