‘Star Trek Beyond’ Trailer Aims for Fun
I wasn’t a huge fan of the Star Trek remake, and the second was even worse.
But, with the third film, Star Trek Beyond, Paramount has enlisted Fast & Furious vet Justin Lin to save the franchise.
The first teaser trailer already has my eyebrows raised, as it’s more than clear that Lin has injected the flaccid franchise with some dick juice. It’s super flashy, takes itself less seriously, and is a ton of fun. I’m happy to see studios and filmmakers exiting the Batman Begins/Dark Knight model (why so serious?) and taking things in a more Guardians of the Galaxy direction.
Star Trek Beyond opens July 22, 2016, and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Joe Taslim, Sofia Boutella, and Idris Elba.

Angry Orchard Hard Cider joins forces with the Scream franchise this Halloween, launching a limited release “Thriller Pack” of hard cider featuring a brand new Ghost Face flavor!
Releasing in August, the Thriller Pack from Scream and Angry Orchard features 12 cans of hard cider in total, with four different flavors that each feature fun Halloween names.
The full lineup includes…
- Caramel Apple Curse
- Headless Pumpkin
- Blood Orange
- Mystery Caller
It’s the Mystery Caller can that’s particularly special for Scream fans, as the can is emblazoned with the iconic Ghost Face mask. The mask is also featured prominently on the packaging for the Thriller Pack, which glows in the dark to make the mask pop even further.
No word yet on what the “Mystery Caller” flavor actually is, however.
