Last October I was able to go to the Gateway Film Center’s first Nightmares Film Festival. I saw many films there but what stood out to me most was the fantastic selections of short films. One of my favorites was Matt Braunsdorf’s “John the Carpenter”.
As I wrote before, the short is a simple tale of a man out of revenge against the monster that attacked his sister. There are many nods to the titular namesake but they never come off as forced or ham-handed. We’re even treated to an original synth score by Jared Dymbort who also stars in the short itself.
John the Carpenter won Best Cinematography at the festival, and also recently screened at the New York City Horror Film Festival. And while it will screen at the Under Worlds Austin, we here at Bloody Disgusting have the exclusive online premiere!
So sit back, relax, put your headphones in and enjoy.
You can also get their killer Carpenter inspired score on iTunes right now.
