‘Paranormal Activity’ VR “The Lost Soul” Has Nothing on “Resident Evil biohazard”
Found footage is nearly dead and with is goes the Paranormal Activity franchise. However, virtual reality is on the rise and the one thing that found footage translates to is such, which is what I saw in the new Blair Witch movie. VR is coming at us like a hurricane and companies are scrambling to create new content. Paranormal Activity make a whole lot of sense. Too bad it looks like it doesn’t hold a candle to “Resident Evil biohazard” and those terrifying environments.
Here’s a new trailer for “Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul”, which appears to be an officially licensed VR game headed by VRWERX. While it looks sort of crummy, it is run by the Unreal Engine, which is dope. I haven’t had a chance to experience high end VR equipment yet, but I hope they find a way to do away with the “screen door” affect sooner rather than later as it hinders the experience quite a bit…
The game will support the major VR headsets that are currently on the way, including the HTC Vive, Playstation VR and Oculus, when it arrives next spring on Steam, PS4 and Xbox One. A non-VR version of the game will also release on those platforms.

In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war, but it was a cheerful illustrator from England who helped to define the terrifying war-torn imagery that inspired what we now know as Grimdark (a hybrid genre combining horror with sci-fi/fantasy).
Unfortunately for fans of Warhammer 40,000, Trench Crusade and countless other sources of Grimdark thrills, veteran artist John Blanche passed away this week after struggling with health issues for the past few years.
While the artist retired back in 2023, he leaves us with an enormous legacy of iconic artwork that continues to inspire gamers and storytellers around the world to this very day.
The news is especially gloomy as it was only last year that Daniel Lowman and Napoleon Dynamite himself Jon Heder released The Grim & the Dark: The Search for John Blanche, a documentary following Heder’s exploration of the Grimdark genre culminating in a heartwarming encounter with Blanche in his own home.
