New Featurette Shows How ‘The Mummy’ Upholds the Legacy
The #DarkUniverse begins on June 9th.
Longtime horror fans know that Universal’s upcoming “shared monsters universe,” officially dubbed the Dark Universe just yesterday, is really nothing new. Sure, the rebooted universe may have been inspired by Marvel’s cinematic universe, but let’s not forget that Universal Studios had a collection of interconnected characters long before anyone else did.
The Mummy was added to the mix back in 1932, and he (or she, rather) returns to the big screen 85 years later in next month’s reboot of The Mummy. A new featurette video that just hit the net tracks the legacy that paved the way for Tom Cruise to kick some undead ass this summer!
Alex Kurtzman directed The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The cast also includes Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Jake Johnson (Jurassic World), Russell Crowe and Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson”).
