“This is some Re-Animator shit.”
Ahead of the June 20th 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release, Sony Pictures Entertainment has decided to whet your appetite by letting you watch the first 10 minutes of Life right here and now, free of charge. And you should, because it showcases a 5-minute single take sequence that kicks off the film in a way that immediately won me over when I saw it in the theater.
On the whole, Daniel Espinosa’s Life is a sci-fi/horror gem that deserves a much wider audience than it found in theaters. In many ways a love letter to the original Alien, Espinosa’s film is tense, vicious and oftentimes downright cruel and disturbing, introducing a brand new original monster that makes a damn good case for being the star of his own franchise. If you’re a fan of Alien and just generally miss original space horror films, I strongly recommend you check this one out.
In the meantime, watch the first 10 minutes below!
Directed by Daniel Espinosa, Life was written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick.
