He may not be making the Aliens sequel he wanted to make, but Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Chappie) sure is keeping busy with brand new venture Oats Studios. As we learned last week courtesy of the first teaser, Oats Studios will allow Blomkamp to play around with experimental shorts that could someday be expanded into features, and the first volume of shorts is soon headed to YouTube and Steam.
Blomkamp says that Oats Studios “Volume 1” will stream free of charge, with follow-up volumes potentially being made available at a cost. He tweeted tonight, “The goal is to see IF the audience likes them and IF they would be willing to pay for Volume 2. They are too short to charge now.”
Today’s brand new official trailer is home to all sorts of crazy sci-fi imagery (plus Sigourney Weaver!), and it’s sure to whet your appetite for what’s coming.
