Dave Bautista is a replicant on the run in this in-world prequel.
Ahead of October’s Blade Runner 2049, director Denis Villeneuve has enlisted the help of other filmmakers to direct three prequel shorts that will be set between the events of the original Blade Runner and his sequel. The second, directed by Luke Scott, has arrived.
The short, titled 2048: Nowhere to Run, takes place in the year 2048, and centers on Dave Bautista’s character, Sapper. We meet Sapper just one year before the events of next month’s film, giving us an early glimpse into the character’s life and mindset.
Check out the short below, which further solidifies the fact that Dave Bautista is one of the best professional wrestlers-turned-actors we’ve ever seen.

In Blade Runner 2049…
“Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
The cast also includes Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Ana de Armas, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Sylvia Hoeks, and Barkhad Abdi.
Hampton Fancher and Michael Green wrote the script.
Blade Runner 2049 arrives on October 6, 2017.
