Steven Soderbergh is going a little crazy with the official trailer for his Unsane, a horror film reportedly shot on an iPhone in a single week!
The film centers on a young woman who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution. She is then confronted by her greatest fear … but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?
Claire Foy stars in one of this year’s most secretive, hotly anticipated horror films. The trailer ratchets up the tension as Foy can’t tell if she’s insane or not. It’s an interesting choice to film on an iPhone as it appears to be an allegory for our inability to escape constant surveillance. I’m not sure I like the way it looks, but for a film shot in only a week, I’m actually quite excited to see how it turns out.
Claire Foy, Juno Temple, Jay Pharaoh, Joshua Leonard, Aimee Mullins and Amy Irving all star.
Bleecker Street will release Unsane on March 23, 2018. It will also premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival next month.
