Ominous ‘Perfect’ Trailer Becomes More Evolved [SXSW]
Brainfeeder Films has just released a trailer for Eddie Alcazar‘s Perfect, which premieres at the ongoing SXSW Film Festival. The footage is wild, looking like an ominous mix of Ex Machina and Lawnmower Man. I love the modern take on ugly, old-school technology that looks more like a fantasy than reality. This is catapulted to the near-top of my must-see festival list.
In the film, “A boy in a cold and stark modern house, in a vaguely science fictional world, is seduced by advertisements of perfection to install implantable characteristics directly into his body. The implants heal his dark, twisted visions, but come with a corporeal cost. He persists on applying them, hoping to reach perfection, but ultimately he discovers that purity of mind is not exactly as he’s imagined.”
Featuring music by Flying Lotus, Garrett Wareing, Courtney Eaton, Tao Okamoto with Maurice Compte, and Abbie Cornish star in the sci-fi thriller that’s executive produced by Steven Soderbergh!
Producers are Eddie Alcazar and Javier Lovato.
Director Eddie Alcazar was the winner of an art scholarship to AAU and named one of the 25 up and coming faces in Hollywood by Filmmaker Mag. He directed “Tapia” for HBO, and “FUCKKKYOUUU” a Sundance-selected short scored by Flying Lotus.

Keanu Reeves Describes Untitled Time Loop Thriller from Director Tim Miller as ‘Groundhog Day’ With Sharks
At one point known as Shiver, Tim Miller‘s (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) next movie doesn’t yet have a title, but star Keanu Reeves offers a very intriguing tease this week.
Chatting with Collider, Reeves explains what drew him to the mysterious upcoming project from director Tim Miller. He tells the outlet, “Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day.”
That lines up with early plot details that surfaced earlier this year, with the film said to center on a “smuggler in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea.”
That synopsis continued, “Surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and bloodthirsty sharks, the man finds himself in a time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”
Callie Cooke (“The Stranger”), Stefan Kapičić (Deadpool), Steven Waddington (Sleepy Hollow), Nicholas Duvernay (“The White Lotus”), Abraham Popoola (Cruella), Anastasia Safonov, and Bobby Holland Hanton (Thor: Love and Thunder) also star.
Ian Shorr (Splinter, Infinite) penned the screenplay for the sci-fi thriller, which had previously been described as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.
Stay tuned for more on the untitled Warner Bros. project.
