Fans who attended the San Diego Comic Con panel for this year’s Halloween were treated to both fears and tears over the weekend, as David Gordon Green, Jamie Lee Curtis, Malek Akkad and Jason Blum took to the stage to hype up the film and share some brutal new footage. That footage won’t be making its way online, but the panel’s most emotional moment has.
During the panel’s Q&A session, a fan offered up his own real life story of survival, detailing a traumatic event wherein a knife-wielding man was terrorizing his neighborhood. Rather than being terrified, the man took a stand and put on his bravest possible face, using Jamie Lee Curtis’ portrayal of survivor Laurie Strode as the inspiration to fight back.
“This thought inside me went… What would Jamie Lee Curtis do?,” the fan explained through tears. “I’m here today because of the way you portrayed Laurie Strode. I’m a victor today, instead of a victim.”
Upon hearing the story, Jamie Lee Curtis left the stage and entered the crowd, embracing the fan in a beautiful moment that was captured on film. Check it out below.
The healing power of horror. Gotta love it.
