The journey Halloween III: Season of the Witch has taken over the years has been an interesting one, to say the least. When it was released in theaters back in 1982, confused fans of the franchise just wanted Michael Myers back, and the film went unloved for many years by those same fans. But here in 2018, the tides have turned to such an extent that Halloween III, against all odds, has become one of the most beloved franchise sequels of them all. When viewed as its own thing, outside the Halloween franchise, it’s something truly special.
As you may recall, I wrote up my own Halloween III fan fiction here on BD back in 2016, with my short story “The Final October” serving as a direct sequel to the film. I bring this up because another mega fan of the film, filmmaker Brandon Tobatto, similarly went ahead and made his own Halloween III sequel this year, which he’s calling Return of the Witch.
Tobatto tells us, “The film will release on Youtube on October 27th, and promises an all-new take on the original story, all the while continuing those events directly, as well. The film will feature an updated cast, diverse locations, and the return of the infamous Silver Shamrock masks, used with permission from Trick or Treat Studios!”
In Return of the Witch, “After finally coming to terms with the fact that his family’s legacy has been forever tarnished by the events of Halloween 1982, Connor Cochran, grandson of Conal Cochran and heir to the ‘Silver Shamrock’ company, has decided to re-emerge from the shadows and rid the world of the stigma it has placed upon his family name. With this new ‘Shamrock Unlimited’ brand looming over the nation, will Connor Cochran right the wrongs of his grandfather… or FINISH what Conal Cochran started all those years ago?”
