[Video] Witness the Return of Silver Shamrock in New ‘Halloween III’ Fan Film ‘Return of the Witch’!
Thirty six years ago, Daniel Challis saved the world. This year, Silver Shamrock is back.
It’s pretty awesome to see that Halloween III: Season of the Witch has finally been embraced by fans for what it is rather than derided for what it’s not, and it took many, many years to get to this point. For years, Halloween III was the bastard child of the franchise, a Michael Myers-less sequel that simply did not fit within the mold of the series… to say the least.
As its own movie, of course, Halloween III is a total gem, one that has amassed such a large following that sites like this one don’t even need to defend it anymore. It’s no longer “underrated” or “overlooked,” as it’s now so beloved that it’s even spawning… fan films?!
As you may recall, I wrote up my own Halloween III fan fiction here on BD back in 2016, with my short story “The Final October” serving as a direct sequel to the film. This year, filmmaker Brandon Tobatto similarly went ahead and made his own Halloween III sequel with the fan film Return of the Witch, a 26-minute short that picks up 36 years after the film.
Return of the Witch centers on the return of the nefarious Silver Shamrock as the re-branded Shamrock Unlimited, the brain-child of Conal Cochran’s grandson, Connor Cochran…
“After finally coming to terms with the fact that his family’s legacy has been forever tarnished by the events of Halloween 1982, Connor Cochran, grandson of Conal Cochran and heir to the ‘Silver Shamrock’ company, has decided to re-emerge from the shadows and rid the world of the stigma it has placed upon his family name. With this new ‘Shamrock Unlimited’ brand looming over the nation, will Connor Cochran right the wrongs of his grandfather… or FINISH what Conal Cochran started all those years ago?”
Like many fan films, Return of the Witch is no doubt an amateur effort, but man it’s just so cool to see that Halloween III is finally popular enough to be spawning its own fan projects such as this one. The concept behind the short is really cool, with Silver Shamrock’s original plan taken to an apocalyptic new level, and we certainly commend Tobatto and his team for their efforts.
Be sure to watch through the credits for a fun final treat!
