With the Ryan Reynolds-starring Detective Pikachu headed to theaters next month, madman Sam Haft (who just so happens to be Jamie Lee Curtis’s god-son!) has conjured up a freaky-as-hell video with True Detective Pikachu, a short film that parodies the first season of HBO’s “True Detective” by replacing Matthew McConaughey with… that nightmare you see above.
In the words of Jamie Lee Curtis herself, who tweeted out the Birth.Movies.Death. article that brought this sure-to-go-viral internet oddity to our attention today, True Detective Pikachu is “some fantastic weird shit,” and we couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
