At long last, Square Enix has finally revealed a game that’s been years in the making. Final Fantasy VII Remake will launch worldwide for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
Boasting two Blu-Ray discs of content, the remake will rebuild and expand upon the legendary RPG for today. Some of the changes to the original include:
- New optional tactical mode
- Enemies have a focus gauge; if filled, you can stagger your attacks for bonus damage
- Filling ATB allows you to use Tactical Mode, game slows down and allows you to plan to use abilities
- Item usage is limited
- FFVII Remake will be split into 2 Blu-Ray discs worth of content, with Part 1 consisting entirely of Midgar
- Stagger mechanic is borrowed from Final Fantasy XIII
On top of that, there will be Deluxe, Digital and 1st Class Editions of the game. You can pre-order them now.
Final Fantasy VII Remake tells the story of a world fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic adventures that await him.
