Exclusive: Murderdolls’ Joey Jordison (Slipknot) & Wednesday 13 Share Their Favorite Horror Flicks
Murderdolls make fist-pumpin’, panty-droppin’ graveyard rock better than anyone these days.
That sums it all up.
The pairing of Slipknot’s Joey Jordison (guitar, drums, musical mayhem of all kinds) and Wednesdy 13 (vocals, cool hats) is genuinely arena-ready on Women and Children Last, the band’s forthcoming sophomore offering and follow-up to 2002’s Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls. In fact, Women and Children Last sits at a sick crossroads right in between Motley Crue and Rob Zombie, and it’s a pretty awesome place to be. With searing riffs and solos and massive choruses, this may bring more than just the goth chicks back to rock ‘n’ roll… thank God…
Given the band’s penchant for all kinds of horror-influenced subject matter, Bloody-Disgusting.com’s Rick Florino (www.bookofdolor.com) sat down with Joey Jordison and Wednesday 13 in a Hollywood Hills studio to discuss some of their favorite horror flicks for this exclusive feature.

Joey Jordison: I like a lot of foreign stuff. I love Cannibal Ferro and Cannibal Holocaust!

Joey Jordison: I love the NEKRomantik 1 and 2. I’m a big fan of both of those films. Those are hands down some of the best horror movies. Number 2 has a different girl, and it’s good! That one really fucking caused a storm when it came out. I should’ve brought it down so Wednesday could see it. I’ll bring it back to L.A. next time I go to Iowa!

Joey Jordison: I love Coffin Joe and Schramm. We have all of the obvious films, but those are some of the more underground movies that I like.
Wednesday 13: That spelling on Schramm doesn’t make any damn sense [Laughs].
Joey Jordison: It doesn’t! That movie’s fucked up. You’ll have to search it out. It’s odd. The kills are horrible [Laughs].
Wednesday 13: I find myself renting more teen movies—love stories these days. It’s actually more angry. I’m moved on past horror. I need more shit to inspire me to be angry [Laughs].

1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Wednesday 13: I haven’t quoted the stuff I’ve quoted with Joey in years. When we get together, it’s Raising Arizona and the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. We just constantly go back and forth between those.
Joey Jordison: I was quoting The Hitchhiker a minute ago!

Wednesday 13: As far as favorites, I break them up in genres. You’ve got your ’70s stuff like Chainsaw. Then you’ve got your ’80s stuff—Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. Those are all great—the first few especially.
AMC has announced that The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only LIVE, the standing-room-only performance celebrating AMC’s premiere of its newly-released The Vampire Lestat at New York City’s iconic Beacon Theatre last month, will debut on streaming.
The Vampire Lestat: One Night Only LIVE begins streaming on AMC+ on August 23.
Ahead of its streaming premiere, fans can preview the concert event, featuring original songs from series composer Daniel Hart and performed by Sam Reid, in Hall H at Comic Con International on July 24.
Our own Daniel Kurland attended the special event, highlighting how electric the Immortal Vampire is on stage: “It’s clear in this season of television that Reid was born to be a rock star, but it’s surreal to see him effortlessly command the stage — and the audience — at every step of the concert. He recites Shakespeare monologues and bitches out Armand between songs, all while the audience screams in support. For the duration of this concert, Reid is Lestat, and he’s given thousands of fans a memory that’s as immortal as any vampire.”
Based on Anne Rice‘s The Vampire Chronicles book series, The Vampire Lestat is the rock and roll-centric third season of AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire” created by showrunner Rolin Jones.
The Vampire Lestat goes on an electric multi-city tour while being haunted by “muses” from his wild and rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rises, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.
Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle star with Reid. Executive producers include Jones, Mark Johnson, Hannah Moscovitch, the late Anne Rice, and her son Christopher Rice.
The series finale airs this Sunday, July 19, on AMC and AMC+.
