Relativity Media Acquires ‘Shark Night 3D’

Relativity Media – who now has its own distribution arm after acquiring the marketing and distribution operations of Overture Films earlier this year – has snapped up domestic rights to Shark Night 3D from Sierra Pictures and partner Incentive Filmed Entertainment. Relativity announced Tuesday that it will release the shark pic next year and will announce a new title and a specific release date shortly. The David R. Ellis-directed pic stars Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Katharine McPhee, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore, Donal Logue, Sinqua Walls and Chris Zylka. The story, penned by Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes, surrounds a group of college friends spending a weekend at a house on the lake, only to find a shark lurking. Relativity is also releasing Season of the Witch next year.

Simu Liu Joins Sci-Fi Survival Thriller ‘Homewrecker’ From ‘Under Paris’ Director

Avengers: Doomsday and Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai actor Simu Liu is joining Allison Williams (M3GAN) and Michelle Randolph (Scream 7) on the sci-fi survival thriller HomewreckerDeadline reports today.

Production is set to begin next month in Paris, France.

In Homewrecker, “During a heart-breaking domestic revelation, three star-crossed Americans are suddenly forced to work together to survive a terrifying unexplained global event that threatens to destroy life as they know it.”

Xavier Gens (Under ParisFrontier(s)) will direct from a script by Elisa Bell (Vegas Vacation) and Travis Gordon, which has been likened in spirit to 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Producers include Denise Di Novi, Margaret French Isaac, & Oliver Scherick for Di Novo Pictures (Practical Magic) and John Zois & Warren Goz for Parallel 42 Entertainment.

Williams will executive produce alongside Michael Rothstein & Samuel Hall for North.Five.Six, which is launching sales at next week’s Cannes film market. CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group co-rep domestic rights.
