Co-Writer Gale Anne Hurd Would “Love” to Return to ‘Terminator’ Franchise
There’s obviously a big difference between wanting to do something, and a studio wanting you to do something. During an interview, it’s easy to bait the interviewee into answering a question that can be turned into a major story. For example, EW asked The Terminator (1984) producer/co-writer Gale Anne Hurd – hot off the recent success of “The Walking Dead” – about her returning to the franchise she helped create. Her response, she’d “love” to return, especially after what’s happened over the past few years. “It’s very sad,” says Hurd of the franchise’s recent history. “You feel like you gave birth to something and it’s been adopted and those adoptions haven’t worked out. Of course I’d be interested in doing another one. I’d love it.” Again, big difference between Hurd having interest, and the studio having interest in her. She doesn’t even own the rights anymore (she carried half for a long period of time), unfortunately.
