‘The Divide’s’ Mickey Promises That It Will Melt Your Face and Your Hair Will Fall Out
LITTLE GIRL: “I don’t want to stay down here. I want to go home now.”
MICKEY (Michael Biehn): “I know sweetie, but uncle Mickey says we have to stay.”
LITTLE GIRL: “Why?”
MICKEY: “Because your face will melt off and your hair will fall out.”
We’ve just landed a disturbing set of photos show the result of fallout in Anchor Bay’s horror-thriller The Divide (review) that opens in theaters January 13, 2012. Below you can dig on the new Fallout Progression photos for Rosanna Arquette, Milo Ventimiglia (above) and Michael Ecklund.
The award-winning makeup (Best Makeup FX, Sitges International Film Festival) for The Divide was done by artist Steve Kostanski, creating a disturbingly realistic look at the physical effects of fallout after a group of strangers narrowly survive a nuclear bomb.“In this graphic and violent, post-apocalyptic thriller, nine strangers-all tenants of a New York high-rise apartment-escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, thegroup begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness. Each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next. While everyone in the bunker allows himself or herself to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape, even with no promise of salvation on the outside.”
Brendan Fraser is back for the upcoming fourth installment in The Mummy franchise from directors Radio Silence, and Michael Johnston (Obsession) is now in talks to join him.
The Hollywood Reporter lets us know tonight that Michael Johnston is in “early talks” to join The Mummy 4, which will release in theaters on October 15, 2027 via Universal.
Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah will reprise their iconic roles as Rick O’Connell, Evelyn O’Connell, and Jonathan Carnahan in the upcoming movie.
Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream 5-6) are directing from a script by David Coggeshall (Orphan: First Kill).
Plot details are being kept under wraps at this time, but the brand new sequel is expected to disregard the events of the third movie, in which Rachel Weisz did not appear.
“It’s just really beautiful and scary and sweeping, and it’s awesome,” Gillet teases. Bettinelli-Olpin adds that the film “has all of the heart and the character that you could hope for.”
A remake of the classic Universal monster movie that took an action-adventure approach, The Mummy was released in 1999 and grossed $417 million worldwide. It was followed by The Mummy Returns in 2001 and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008.
