The WSJ Reports The Next PlayStation Will Stream PS3 Games
It’s all but certain the next PlayStation will be unveiled by Sony on Tuesday. We’ve seen teasers, controller prototypes, and spent some time guessing what the console’s logo will look like, but nothing in the way of actual news will arrive until the 20th, when Sony makes their big reveal(s?) at an event in NYC (at 6pm EST). That isn’t stopping the Internet from spreading rumors like wildfire, and the most recent of these is a report from the Wall Street Journal that says the next PlayStation will stream PS3 games. Last year Sony purchased cloud gaming company Gaikai for a substantial amount of money — $380MM — but the reasons for that purchase haven’t been made entirely clear yet. That’s led many to speculate that the PS4, Orbis, or whatever Sony ends up calling it, will include some sort of game streaming feature. A report from the Wall Street Journal citing “people familiar with [Sony’s] plans” corroborates this theory, saying “The new technology, to be unveiled Wednesday along with the new console, will allow users to play games delivered over the Internet, these people said. The streaming service, they added, is designed to use current PlayStation 3 titles on the new console; the new device is also expected to play new games stored on optical discs.”
This would be interesting, though I can’t say I’m particularly fond of the idea of replacing my library of PS3 games, even if it’s a relatively small number when compared to my Xbox 360 library. Is this a feature you would be interested in?

Epic’s Fortnite is heading for another crossover, this time with Universal Orlando and Halloween Horror Nights. The title’s annual Fortnitemares Halloween event will be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort in a new scare zone, kicking off on August 28.
For those not in the know, Scare zones are themed, open-air areas where guests and actors roam around freely.
This is the first time Fortnite will be featured during the after-hours event, which will run from August 28 until November 1. Tickets and packages are on sale now at the official site.
Per the press release, guests will enter Freaky Fields, a Halloween-inspired living battleground that’s been “overcome with a threatening force.” From there, fans will meet up with the Battle Bus, featuring familiar Fortnitemares characters, including “a few new additions exclusive to Halloween Horror Nights.”
And of course, there will be Fortnitemares merchandise available for fans, including a graphic t-shirt, decal set, and an acrylic collectible piece.
Fortnitemares won’t be the only featured property at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. Killer Klowns from Outer Space will also be getting its own scare zone. Sinners, Stranger Things, Hellraiser, and Evil Dead Burn will also be part of the event, though they will be relegated to their own specific houses.
And while it’s early yet, gamers can probably expect Fortnitemares to return to Fortnite this October.
