Finally gearing up for production is director Victor Salva’s Rosewood Lane, which follows a talk show psychiatrist (Rose McGowan) who returns to her hometown following the death of her father and becomes the target of the malicious neighborhood paperboy who stalked and murdered him. The film, which will also star Jeepers Creepers vet Ray Wise, has been a pet project of Salva’s for several years now, and it will be the director’s first feature effort since 2006′s Peaceful Warrior, as well as his first horror film since Jeepers Creepers 2 in 2003. Joe Reegan (Vacancy 2: The First Cut, Jeepers Creepers 2) will join the previously announced Timothy Olyphant and Radha Mitchell in Overture Films’ The Crazies (check out our poster debut), their remake of the classic George A. Romero film being helmed by Breck Eisner. The story revolves around the inhabitants of a small Kansas town who are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. Interesting casting news as Justin Long (pictured inside, Jeepers Creepers) has signed on to star opposite Alison Lohman in Sam Raimi’s supernatural thriller Drag Me to Hell for Ghost House and Universal Pictures. Raimi and his brother Ivan penned the screenplay, a morality tale about the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse. Long will play the boyfriend of Lohman’s character. Shooting is set to start March 31 in Los Angeles. Lohman replaced Ellen Page, who dropped out of the project last month due to scheduling conflicts. (more…) READ MORE
Today New Line Home Entertainment provided us with several stills and the cover art for their big DVD release of The Sick House, which stars Gina Phillips of Jeepers Creepers fame. Miramax’s retitled (3 times now) Venom (aka The Reaper/Backwater) just test screened here in Los Angeles and we’ve got small word inside form a B-D reader who attended. I really don’t have anything against Victor Salva (even with his shallow past) but I think he needs a break from his ‘Jeepers Creepers’ franchise. I think someone fresh needs to direct Jeepers Creepers 3, especially after the garbage that was two.
