what a strange dramatic thriller this was.
unlike any movie ive really seen, i think bale should have been nominated for best actor oscar and i think this really puts a strong statement on his already great acting abilities.
    very mysterious and interesting

Wow I figure more folks would’a reviewed this classic. This is intertwines all of the classic energy from fight club, dramatic twists from donnie darko, and the wonderful direction by none other than Brad Anderson. His best film to date, and one of my personal favorites I must soon revisit.

Great movie!!! One of the best attmospheres I have ever seen created by a director. Very dark. I almost felt like an insomniac. Would have got a 10 if the score didn’t sound like something out of Scooby Doo

One of my favorite films of all time. Anderson’s style is so different and dark, I love it. Kosar has also made one of most well written scripts in the last 30 years. And Bale, well he sacrificed himself for this film.
This movie was made with so much detail from the cast and crew, that it becomes a cult classic in it’s own right.

One of the best psychological thrillers iv’e ever seen. The mood and the atmosphere was made perfectly by Anderson. The best part about this movie is Bale’s performance which I still don’t know why he didn’t get an oscar nod for his role as a man who slowly goes mad piece by piece. This movie is amazing and hits all the right notes. A must watch.

The Film was gripping & very clever, with a dark tone of gloomy mood colour (dark blue & grey & Black set tones), the movie directions were great & the acting by Christian Bale was amazing & was very disgusting to see him that skinny as he usually fit & toned, he most of really took this role seriously to do that(I just couldn’t believe it was him) and all in all the ending should what the whole movie was about & it was just upsetting how a person could do that for a whole year and not even realises.

The “Machinist” is all about mood. Very moody, kinda depressing feel to it. Christian Bale puts in a career defining performance. Granted, this is not the type of film that will win one an Oscar. Bale deserves some type of recognition, though. He is skinny as hell…makes your skin crawl. Altogether, an f’n creepy movie. Highly recommended. Keep in mind this film is not a scare a minute, and will demand a little attention from the viewer.

Bale’s insomnia wears you down and the atmosphere becomes more and more claustrophobic from the opening scene until the source of his living nightmare is revealed at the end. Overall this is a good watch and has a nice twist at the end. Don’t expect a balls to the wall horror flick or scare fest. This is a psychological thriller. And a solid one at that.

Official Score: 4.5 / 5
