it was ok…
Just awful. And a REALLY gay movie, i’ve never seen a movie as gay as this one, just awkward.
RE JULA its a Movie a Movie cant be Gay – I have never seen a movie with its own sexuality.
The time for the word Gay being used as a negative is long gone ( well for Intellegent people anyway ) The movie was “Okay” to me
Entertaining. One to watch for the gore and violence. Definitely felt like a ‘Hostel 3′ though. 6/10.
Thora Birch is damn ugly. And this movie was boring and stupid. Didn’t even show any gore scenes.
Wow, why such A low rating? Pretty good film.
You know, I liked it. It was more entertaining than Terror Train to me. The gore alone was worth a watch. Top notch. I also really liked Thora Birch. She grounded what could have been another bland final girl, and they beat the shit out of her. The bad decisions are stupid, (Passports, “Guys this isn’t funny”, & the like) but it was better than stuff that gets a theatrical release. Low-Budget? Yes. But Train spent its money where it was important, gore and a good lead. Job well done.
What originally was suppose to be a remake of the Jamie Lee Curtis star slasher pic ended up taking the wrong route and decided to be it’s own movie and guess what it’s another torture flick, come on! Not once was it not cliched and it wasn’t suspenseful, scary, original or inspired it’s just another rehash of Hostel and not in a good way. I thought the acting was not very good from anyone except from Thora Birch who got unfortunately stuck in this rotting waste of a horror film, the filming was alright and it had the perfect setting but not much ignition, the only part that had me on the edge was when they were being chased throughout the train and they get trapped in a room and they soon find themselves in pitch black as the train goes through a tunnel, that was a pretty good part but the rest seemed too familiar. This movie just didn’t seem focused and was pointless in the end and they should of went with the original idea of a remake of the slasher Terror Train which might of had a much better payoff than this, it was just forgettable rubbish trying to cash in on the torture craze. Overall this was like Transsiberian meets Hostel and not in a good way, it had flaws and the whole thing was problematic and rushed, yes it had alot of gore but there seemed to be no room for suspense, terror and scares and that’s maybe why they stuck with just Train for the title and not Terror Train this time around. Not recommended!
Wow, I was so dissapointed with this movie. I had high expectations for this movie after reading the synopsis and I guess that was the movies downfall. Nothing was convicing to me and a lot of the characters actions were just retarded. When there friend goes missing on the train they all decide to just go to bed as he will turn up in the morning, which is just stupid because there on a train. It’s not like there in a city and how long could it possibly take to check the whole train. There is also a part when the characters give there passports to some incest looking mother fuckers. I know it’s suppose to be a horror movie but the characters are beyond just being stupid.
Okay, now wait guys! Let’s be honest here. Yes, this movie is totally unoriginal, and a bite off of Hostel. Yes, it lacks proper character development and the acting is not beyond terrible but mediocre. The storyline is OKAY…possibly passable. However I rented the film after reading the reviews here on BD and I sat down figuring that I would be turning it off within 5 minutes judging on the ratings it received. Dude, this movie isn’t THAT bad. I wouldn’t buy it or recommend it above others but its worth seeing at least from a gore perspective. You have to admit the gore/special effects factor was more than I can say for a lot of other straight to DVD horror films. Go rent it, grab some beer and you’ll get into it. Beyond that, its another film to be forgotten under the spectrum of unfortunate attempts to wash-away horror films.
Pretty bad movie, but not the worst. The gore was halfway decent, but he plot was absolutely idiotic, and the acting and writing were even worse.
I thought this movie was pretty good. I guess unless you watch only horror movies 24/7 and enjoy watching hostel a million times. I could see your point. Was it somewhat misdirected in some scenes yes, but it was entertaining at 3am in the morning with a bunch of my colleges buddies. It was pretty cool….
I enjoyed the movie.. People tend to get too technical and picky..It’s a SLASHER movie not rocket science, nor is a slasher film going to win an Oscar ..Give me gore, action and decent story and I’m happy..As for it being gay..”do people over the age of 12 still say that?”
I have an official review on my site..
lmao this movie was pretty damn horrible, I have no idea why there are actually people here defending it. Its just an awkard and poorl put together movie. Bad acting, bad script. I mean BAD. As in holy shit I will gouge out my eyes if I have to sit through even another second of this BAD.
This movie just expands on Hostel but with a train and a few crazy bloodthirsty maniacs that are just happy to have the job of collecting bodies for a doctor, also just like Turistas it is the buying (or stealing) of fresh organs to be transplanted in paying customers who don’t care about where the organs come from just as long as they work. These two story lines put together to create a fresh new look in human body parts trafficking doesn’t fly very well. Although the surviving girl in the end was pretty badass there is plenty of blood and guts to satisfy the gorehunter in you. I’ll keep on hunting though.
This movie had lots of promise, but failed mostly. The concept is decent enough, basically Turistas meets Saw, and the setting in Eastern Europe is awesome. I can’t believe that more horror movies aren’t made in Eastern Europe. That said, this movie is ruined especially by terrible acting. Thora Birch, especially. I understand that Birch is supposed to be the “star” in this film, but she wonders through it like she is in an emo video and never really acts “scared” or well, acts at all. Too bad.
Overall, worth seeing though I would say.
I’m happy I rented. This movie was a complete waste.
While the film was far from perfect, it was a decent film. The first half of the film is incredibly strong, but the last half brings the movie down, mostly because of a horribly miscast Thora Birch. Many have compared this to Hostel, and truth be told there are similarities, but this is much better.
it was pretty good
I really liked this mvie but the ending was a bit off
I thought the original was a hell of alot better,
this followed the original a tad bit in the be-
ginning but quickly drifted off into its own original bullshit fucked-up boring story from hell. Gideon Emery was about the only decent eye
candy there was but than he also was the first to meet his maker. what a waste of $4.25, don’t
bother with this piece of shit find the original
with Jamie Lee Curtis, that’s full of all sort’s
of bloody, gory meaty goodtimes sure to love and
indulge yourself in!!!
Thora Birch seems to have a nice streak going these days with such films as Dungeons and Dragons and the Hole, I think train merely caps off a rather disappointing series of bad decisions by Ms. Birch.
Train is really as bad as the site says it is. Mainly another film inspired by the Hostel film, only this time borrowing bits from Touristas and creating a film that really doesn’t do much right.
I never got in to the whole Anti-Torture Porn movement that seemed to follow every similar film since Hostel. I have enjoyed many torture type films, but this one just does not work. It starts out with an even enough first half, including some decent build-up average acting and some solid gore. However, when this film slows down, it just never seems to find it way again.
There appear to be bits of the movie missing, scenes that might explain why 3 characters run off, yet somehow choose to split up off-screen and an explanation is never given. This type of thin happens a few times and makes me wonder what they left on the cutting room floor.
Ultimately the last act is rather predictable and the final battle is something that will have me laughing for some time. That level of cheesiness seems more appropriate in the Karate kid than a torture movie full of gore. The final scene is also laughably bad and will likely bring folks to groan and laugh at the same time.
Decent torture film, no more, no less. The torture scenes were well done and succeeded in leaving your stomach feel a little squirmy, the acting and special effects used were very well done and the shock value was created using brutal violence rather than loud noises which is always a plus…but the predictability, poor plot build, and ending just killed this one for me. Worth a view.
With a brutal opening sequence of graphic dismemberment, and early ample boobage, Train begins on a typical though promising footing – at least for a contribution to the torture porn subgenre. However, through numerous logical failures, an absurd script, and incredibly stupid characters who continually throw away their weapons to keep the film’s running time longer, Train is slowly derailed. Case in point: three wrestlers with an axe can’t overcome one guy, and their attempt is so halfhearted you actually want to route for their attacker. That these characters are strong athletes in a physically demanding sport seems forgotten by the filmmakers until the final battle, which is among the most ridiculous I have seen. Add to all of this Thora Birch, who I had expected to be the highlight, giving an awful performance where she seems incapable of expressing neither fear nor convincing compassion and instead walks through the movie as though in a bored, stone-faced daze (this being both before and after the killings begin). It does feel as though some integral scenes were left on the cutting room floor, however, even if they were included I suspect that they could still not save this turd of a movie.
D-
Its not nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Yes it could have been better but it has solid acting and some really cool scenes. Check it out for yourself.
dont get the hate, loved it great flick
this movie was a terrible, crappy, excuse for torture porn! The plot is so stupid and they don’t even explain it!The acting wasn’t that bad besides the big killer, he was terrible! But the movie was really….come on a ten year old could have made this movie!
Somehow they fucked this up. The ideas for some of the deaths were cool but they just weren’t executed very well. Both Hostel and Touristas were better if you’re looking for that kind of movie.
Gory yet suspenseless Hostel rip off. Thora Birch gives a terrible performance but if there is nothing else to watch then…
this was acutaly really good. i was impressed
Originally they wanted to do a remake of “Terror Train”, but unfortunately the whole thing turned out to be some kind of ‘Hostel on a Train’.
An unbelievably stupid movie with a terrible script full of large plot holes and illogical moments (bad Russians who suddenly appear out of the blue, train wagons that suddenly disappear…), full of repulsive and pointless torture/kill scenes (illegal organ traders cutting out eyes and ripping off penises… I mean: transplanting a ripped off penis? Come on.) and full of unlikeable and annoying characters.
2-3 ok gore scenes and a solid Thora Birch, that’s it. The rest is just crap.
Hostel on a train? Fuck it , it worked. Not bad.
A movie opening with a sequence of a skinning was destined to be gory.
Anywho, starting with the good points…uhm…well, I honestly can’t remember much that was good about this movie apart from the gore level.
The film starts with a group of friends who are all part of a sports team, a wrestling one to be precise. They’re all heading off to a competition in Belgium.
The very over-bearing coach persistantly reminds them that they must NOT miss their train in the morning and should have an early night.
Obviously, the completely ignore the advice, deciding to spend the night at a nightclub where you enter at 1am and 5 mins later, it’s 12 noon. The whole scene is useless and should have been longer to make it make more sense. The team misses their train, coach is very angry then they get coaxed onto a completely different train heading in the same direction by a mysterious foreign blonde lady.
That’s where the ‘fun’ begins.
We see lots of blood, hear plenty of screams and laugh at the stupidity of the movie.
I have to say there were a few scenes that made me wince but they were only there for visual references. Nothing that would actually matter to the plot.
The characters were annoying/stupid/boring, the story was lame (most people say it’s Hostel on a Train. It is NOT. Hostel was GOOD. Train is BAD.) and the villains were CRAP.
Stupid moves from the characters irritated me. for example; why would you not wonder why the friend you’d dared to run through a train in nothing but a jock-strap hasn’t returned in a few hours?
The very end part was sooo ridiculous, I started gritting my teeth.
How would she be able to do that? Yet another stupid moment in this movie.
Yet another try at the ‘torture-porn’ genre (why porn is even in that is questionable considering there’s a few boobies in this but no porn?).
I thought this was supposed to be a re-make of the Jamie Lee Curtis movie from the 70′s (?). Well its not.
So, if you want mindless gore, no story, boring and uncharismatic characters then get Train now!
I love Thora Birch, therefore I loved this movie. Though the storyline isn’t that original, I felt that it was portrayed in a great way. The gore is great and the acting was pretty believable. Watch this one and you won’t be disappointed.
What??? Everyone else gets to strip off but not thora birch, the one you want to see strip off. Oh well perhaps she’s too high profile now BORING!!!! plus was the camera only allowed to film her from the waist up or something.
I know the film’s not great but even fans of the birch will be disappointed. At least Christina Ricci knows how to entertain the boys. The gore was cool but the rest of it was pretty naff
No plot and zero scares, but plenty of brutal gore scenes. Logic gets tossed, of course–the handing over of passports to the Wrong Turn brothers really sticks out for me–c’mon, really? ugh Also, the coach was dead on with his assessment of his team–they suck. These wrestlers can’t defend themselves at all from being gutted? Nothing new–just your basic torture gore on a train instead of a cellar, basement, or hospital…but those who are totally into Hostel may want to check this out. Pretty ho-hum in my book–some unsettling gore, and lots of nonsense.
Before commenting on this movie I must say that I love Thora Birch. Regarding the movie I liked a lot, is entertaining with some good gore scenes, although the story is not original, is well made in general, besides the brutality of some scenes adds an important element to keep us entertained during the whole movie . Very good.
Great movie, Hostel on a Train
One of the more gruesome torture porn entries; Train is a serviceable and at times enjoyable trip with plenty of gore.
you gotta be an avid fan of gore to enjoy this mess. I appreciate good gore if it’s used well.
This wasn’t.
I really liked this movie, but the ending kind of threw me off.
