The art style and filmmaking are truly a masterpiece. The story itself is dull, lame, predictable, cliché, and in the end 100% forgettable.

I’ll start with the action. To be blunt, there is hardly any at all. When the action happens it is lame and uninspired. It reminded me of dumbed down action scenes from Spider-Man, but even that is too much of a complement.

So, with all the talking scenes and characterization scenes you’d expect the plot to be, you know, at least a plot. Oh, how wrong that assumption is. There is no plot. The mini stories that somehow are kind of a plot mixed together are generally boring, and entirely cliché. As if, you’ve seen these mini stories on cartoons before.

But it doesn’t even have the same level of fun, original cartoony feel. It’s more like a bad cartoon–like Tom and Jerry–that has grown up but never matured. It just feels . . . awkward and boring. Like a 40-year-old man doing something like a 5-year-old. It’s just lame.

This style of mature cartoony-fantasy has been NAILED in video games like Killer 7, which hone the originality and innocence of cartoons, but mix it with mean-spirited ultraviolence. Sin City simply doesn’t know how to do that in a way that isn’t boring and cliché.

The only reason this doesn’t get 1 or 2 skulls from me is because of the style. As I said, it’s truly a masterpiece in style. Too bad that style wasn’t used for something original and cliché-defining, instead of a lame Spider-Man wannabe with some dumbed-down blood to make it seem action packed.

coolest movie in years. being a fan of frank miller, robert rodriguez and quentin tatantino, its like a gem to me. great preformances. watch for powers boothe in the beginning of the final segment. although very breif, its one of the highlights of the movie. mickey rourke is in top form, and benicio del toro is great as one of the many villains, jackie boy.

This movie really wasn’t that good. I liked the art style and stuff, but it seemed like it was being arty for the sake of being arty. It’s entertaining enough, though.

I thought that sin city was just masterful.

Storyline: 3 different stories in one movie. the 1st story is about a deformed guy who is big and strong and he is on a mission to avenge a hooker that was killed. The 2nd story is about a guy protecting a slut town from a bad cop. The 3rd and final story is about a cop who tries to protect a stripper. 7/10

Acting: Bloody brilliant. Bruce willis, elijah wood and clive owen did a kick ass job. 10/10

Special Effects: Just mad ass! The black and white look through out the whole movie was mad and the blood being white was interesting too. The deaths looked realistic and the yellow bastard was as creepy as fuck. 10/10

Best Scene: Bruce willis kicking the yellow bastards ass. 10/10

Ending: Bruce willis shoots himself!!!!!:( 5/10

Overall the movie was absolutley awesome and it had some grindhouse gore which was nice, such as decapitations, limbs getting hack sawed and a scene with neck biting. I give this movie 10/10

I thought Sin City was awesome, one of its kind, original and kept the audience in full attention. I loved the black and white aspect and the action was amazing. thumbs up.. and for the first time Josh Hartnet wasnt a huge cry baby

Loved it the first time I saw it, but it doesn’t hold up to well on repeated viewings. I get bored with it very quickly now. Marv’s story is the only one that still manages to hold my attention.

What can I say? I was a HUGE fan of the graphic novels in my mid-teens, and this movie is an almost perfect rendition of 3 of my favorite Sin City stories. The cast is fantastic (aside from Jessica Alba — willingness to do nude scenes or no, she isn’t right at all for Nancy, in my very humble opinion). Very visual, visceral, exciting film!

Not a horror movie by any means but still this is one badass movie. Everything about this movie is awesome. The characters, plot, photography, style. The best part is how it is filmed just like the graphic novel black, white, and red.

This film is easily one of the most OVER-RATED films i have ever seen. It is good, but nothing speical. The style of the film gets a little annoying.

Let’s pretend it’s NOT shot like the black and white comic book for a second. What do we have? Absolutely nothing that Uwe Bowell or Paul W.S. Anderson themselves couldn’t squeeze out their asses.

Thought it was cool at first, but after seeing it a second time it just felt gritty and violent for the sake of getting the obnoxious kids in the front row of the theater to exclaim “oh, fuck, you see that shit?” or “that was fucking tight!”

Elijah Wood’s character was pretty cool, but he hardly gets enough screen time. Clive Owen was the coolest main character, but he has the shittiest story. And Jessica Alba’s character is supposed to be naked the whole time! Jeeeeez.

    Lamezorz.

So there I was watching the trailer for “Sin City” thinking that I am not going to like it, there were even moments when I thought about not bothering watching it, but I did and hell am I glad I did!
Sin City is nothing short of a masterpiece. Masterpiece is the only word to describe it, the film looks stunning, the occasional splashes of colour worked amazingly well and it’s different. I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life! The CGI also worked really well in this, I usually don’t like it but in this film they played the CGI like we knew it was CGI! This is how CGI should be used!
Sin City blew me away with its action, I’ve never seen such an action packed (and meaninglful) extravaganzer since “Kill Bill”. The action comes thick and fast and bloody. Just the way I like it. I just sat there with my jaw on the floor as the array of “awesomeness” graced the screen. One things for sure, you won’t be bored.
But as well as the action “Sin City” had a story to tell (several in fact!) three interwoven stories delivered in a way sort of like “Pulp Fiction” only not as clever, I do think that it would’ve been better if the each story connected with each other a little more but never mind, the stories are spectacular! We’ve got Mickey Rourke on the quest for revenge after the murder of his only love, Benicio Del Toro after the rogue cop and escaping the mess he’s got himself into and finally Bruce Willis prtoecting Jessica Alba from an evil green bitch. This is spectacular stuff that doesn’t come around too often.
If I was wearing a hat I’d take it off to Frank Miller as the screenplay is perfect! The continuous narration from each character carries each sotry perfectly, it’s solid and captivating.
Right, well maybe I’ve dragged on a bit too long but no amount of reviews can describe just hor fabulous theis film is, by the end of it it’s just like you’ve been sucked in to the fictional city and been taken on a tour. When the credits role you finally feel like you’ve stepped back into reality. If you get the chance to watch this or buy this or rent it or whatever! JUST DO IT!

Not as good as I had hoped, some of the scenes drag on a bit, but there is enough here to bring you back time and again.
