OMFG of the Day: Robert Robert Zemeckis to Produce R-rated Garden ‘Gnome’ Slasher?

While I haven’t been a fan of Robert Zemeciks‘ work in quite a few years (Monster House may have been the last), he’s finally getting behind something that sounds astoundingly cool. READ MORE

Best & Worst ’10: MICAH’S TOP 10 OF 2010

Since I watch an ungodly amount of horror (around 275 films viewed and reviewed so far in 2010), the bulk of which is DVD/Blu-rays, I opted to put together a list of the best films that had disc releases this year. What that means is you won’t see any films on this list that had a wide release (The Crazies, NOES) or didn’t have a disc release at all (Hatchet II), but you will see several films that had releases in other countries, appeared in festivals or limited engagements AND had a 2010 U.S. disc release. The terrifying results push audiences to the edge-of-their-seats in this white-knuckle horror film directed by Spanish filmmaker Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, El Ciclo). Included with both the Mirrors 2 Blu-ray and DVD release is Into the Mirror, the original Korean film in which the contemporary horror classic is based, about a series of gruesome deaths in a department store all involving mirrors! Has Pinhead Found His Family to Torment in ‘Hellraiser: Revelations’?

Update: We learned exclusively that Peta Wilson has been replaced by Devon Sorvari (The Dark, The Realm). According to the ever-so unreliable IMDB Steven Brand (as “Dr. Ross Craven”), Sanny Van Heteren (as “Kate Bradley”), Tracey Fairaway (as “Emma”) and Daniel Buran (as “Vagrant”) all star in Dimension Films’ low budget Hellraiser: Revelations. If the site is correct, Brand landed the lead role of Dr. Craven, a man who is attempting to bring the family back to normal after his son went missing two years ago. He’s described as a “good man that has fought hard to keep his family together.” Fairaway plays his daughter, Emma, described as “lovely and inquisitive and on the verge of her own womanhood.” Filming is already underway here in Los Angeles under the direction of Víctor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors II). FX specialist Gary J. Tunnicliffe penned the screenplay that follows two friends who unleash Pinhead, who becomes their master of pain. Apparently, one of the friends has a change of heart. He backs out on his oath hoping to swap himself out with one of hi friend’s family members. (more…) READ MORE

The Trailer Park: First Look at Malone’s ‘Parasomnia’

There has been a lot of talk about William Malone’s Parasomnia, but now after seeing the trailer over at Horror.com I’m a bit crossed. Starring Jeffrey Combs the film looks like a mix between amazing and terrible. As much as most people hate Malone’s remake of House on Haunted Hill, I think there’s a lot of quality within and I hope the same translates over into Parasomnia. A horrifying love story about an art student who falls in with a sleeping beauty, only to find out too late that she holds a deadly secret. (more…) READ MORE
