FInally it’s up for review. This movie made me laugh so hard. Jake west is awesome hasn’t made a bad movie yet. Everything bout this is good. The zombie women, the kills. My only gripe could of been a tad bit longer.
This is a brilliant film! And what a cast – Stephen Graham, Noel Clarke (of Dr Who), Danny Dyer (of another brilliant horror-comedy from the UK, ‘Severance’) and Children’s BBC TV’s Dracula in ‘Young Dracula, Keith-Lee Castle. See if you can also spot Evil Aliens’s Emily Booth.
Very funny, lots of gore and a break-neck pace. Go and get it now!!
i ve been a jake west since his first film “evil aliens” which i i REALLY LOVED…so i was looking forward for this one…tons of gore,”english” sense of humor and great acting…..this is probably the best horror comedy i ve seen in years…..even superior to “shawn of the dead”…i cant say much more about this film..you just HAVE to watch this….if you dont…then shame on you!!!!!!!!!!
Kind of dumb! nowhere near as good as Shaun of the Dead. and not that funny to boot! don’t get all the love for this movie at all! Stan Helsing was funnier than this piece of crap!
It was just ok… The Cottage & Shaun are way way way better…
Great film – hilarious & gory as f**k! Evil Aliens wasn’t Jake West’s 1st film by the way it was a low-budget British vampire movie called Razorblade Smile – also well worth a look if you like his other stuff.
Jake West does it again. And with the help of cheeky Danny Dyer you know its gonna be something special. Doghouse is a full blooded British horror comedy, You will either love it or hate it! I Loved it. Oh and killer clown is right about Razorblade, Which starred Emily Booth If i remember rightly.
This movie is well old, I remember seeing it ages ago, Pretty good British comedy-horror, Shaun of the dead is probably best though, but this is still worth a watch by far.
A funny, thoroughly enjoyable brit zomcom that takes the age old battle of the sexes theme and gives it an original twist. Gleefully un-pc with likable characters and good production value, Doghouse is fast paced fun, although a little to hurriedly paced twords the end; which feels more than a little rushed.
The Ultimate BRO zombie flick! This movie didn’t strike me as a instant classic Zomedy. But it had some originality and enough blood to keep the average horror fan interested for 90 minutes.
Anything with the delectable Emily Booth in is worth a watch, even when she’s portraying a rotting zombie. For more Emily go to Bouff tv.com.
I like this movie. Most zombie movies are just about a virus breaking and the people fit to the death to stay alive. This one has the same conspect but there giving a twist when they make the virus only affecting women.( I am a girl so it’s cool, lol). If they do another one they should probabliy keep the virus local and not go international. If they do go international go easy with it becuase it could end up a comical women effected only spin-off of 28 days and weeks later.
Great film enjoyed it alot not meant to be taken seriously.
A bloody, entertaining, humor filled zombie film. I’ve been waiting to find this cheap to pick it up to purchase. I finally got it today, I was not disappointed. The gore and sound are really disturbing and really well done. A good cast brings lots of laughable moments to this one as well. This has the typical zombie film plot, but it was still pretty entertaining to watch.
A zombie com that really isn’t laugh-out-loud funny, but is fun for it’s fast pace, bloody violence/gore, and it’s chicks vs dicks premise. Nothing is taken seriously here, but the zombie chick gang was a bit too goofball at times–whatever. Thankfully some over-the-topness is smoothed over with some old school effects fun and violence. Doghouse is entertaining horror silliness.
Great fun movie and the end came out of the blue.
i wonder if they do a sequel as i hate open ending movies.
I am shocked that anyone could find a film as ugly and stupid as “Doghouse” funny. It’s being billed as a horror-comedy, with zombies, but there are no laughs or scares to be found. The film is as desolate as the town that it takes place in, but luckily, there are zombies, and they are suitably vicious. So right there, the filmmakers got something right.
I’m not sure what the goal was when the filmmakers wrote and directed this trash. Did they want it to be accused of being misogynistic? Because that’s what’s going to happen. People accuse works of art such as “Antichrist” of misogyny, but now they’ve got actually crap on their hands with “Doghouse”. It will offend people; it will disgust people, and yes, it’s a real bore.
A large group of men go for some sort of “guy’s-only trip” to escape from their love-lives, all of which have fallen to pieces. Upon arriving to the desolate-town of choice, assuming this WAS the choice, the lot discovers that all the woman have disappeared from the joints; and so have the men. So where are they? The woman, they are lingering in the shadows. The men, they’re all dead. Technically, so are the women, but some sort of virus is turning them into zombie killing machines bent on destroying all men in sight.
The plot consists of dialogue that is supposed to be funny, male-bonding moments intended to be sweet and sort of charming, and kill scenes which are supposed to be imaginative, inventive, funny, and entertaining. There really isn’t much of a plot; and the thing has as much creativity as the annual Adam Sandler flick. Perhaps it even has less of an ego.
The reason I dislike “Doghouse” so much is not because it is poorly made; but because it is poorly conceived. The whole thing is just one big offensive gore-fest; without purpose, without laughs, and without wit. It’s sort of like “Shaun of the Dead”, a great British horror-comedy, but less hilarious, less witty, and less, you know, ingenious. There’s some good inspiration here, but none of it is used. I guess I must praise these filmmakers for making a film that doesn’t LOOK like shit, but frankly, the thing FEELS that way. It can’t be good news.
The actors don’t deserve this movie, and it does not deserve them. These are skilled, often funny people working here; but why are they so unfunny? I know they have talent, and I have seen them in roles that I liked, but every character here is so undeveloped, unfunny, and without genuine humanity that you just kind of end up hating them all. For what it’s worth, “Doghouse” gets the job done if you want a night of gore and misogyny. But why should you want to watch that? Why should you want to watch “Doghouse”? Here is a movie that I shall allow you to deal with in whatever ways you wish. I would put it in the kennel for some time, because it needs restraint. I mean, it’s not like its funny enough to be let loose. Such a shame; this could have made for a good movie. Sort of. But alas, nothing good has been made, nothing has been achieved, and the whole bloody affair feels like crushed flesh on the bottom of your shoe. And that’s not really a nice feeling.
Sorry, I kinda hated it.
