great remake, definitely a ton of fun and it obviously doesn’t take itself too seriously. loved the setting for this film, it now takes place in new orleans, and the house they used was incredible. the effects are great too, i only noticed a couple tiny bits of CGI but otherwise it looks like they stuck with practical effects. the cinematography was great too, this was a VERY COLORFUL film almost like return of the living dead. it’s got a very “comic book” like feeling to it. and finally, the soundtrack was awesome! i really wished they’d release it.
a few issues i had with this film however: the gore…it’s decently bloody but it’s a little underwhelming and i wanted more.
next, the demons…they look alright but i was VERY disappointed with the way they sounded. wish they brought back the dudes who did the original voices of the demons in the original films instead. in this remake, they more or less just screech and it was a little dumb.
otherwise have fun with this one, it’s a cool flick.
Very fun movie for the holiday of Halloween and it does put you in the mood. Very good movie and I enjoyed it a lot. I really didnt like the original so I was skeptical coming into this one but I really enjoyed it. Check it out.
If you’ve never seen the original then this is an ok fun flick but being a lover of the original and getting my hopes up this just doesnt deserve the right to use the title of Night of the Demons. Sorry but nowhere near touching a classic.
Pretty solid fun remake. Good gore, sweet ass make up and effects. It was funny. and entertaining. That’s all it needs to be. And it’s better then most shit churn out these days. So grab some friends dress the fuck up and party it out
Where to begin? The original was one of the best horror movies I ever seen! I knew it would be hard for this one to live up. Again, like a lot of remakes, some of the stand-out things that make the original so great, fail to be redone. This movie does get some credit for being fun to watch because the director does really put forth effort. One of the scariest parts of this movie is Edward Furlongs strung out look. This movie had a bigger impact the first time around. No costume, No Candy! But a fun Halloween watch.
Honestly? this film was such a piece of crap i honestly cannot believe that anyone would release it for the public! the story was horrible, the acting was horrible and unbelieveable. Spoilers Warning- the blood dripping on the walls to wash off the symbols was such a joke. The cast is running arounf with charcol from the fireplace to rewrite the symbols as dozens of handsburst through the walls, complete CG crap! – the girl reading the symbols was so unbelieveable, she was perfectly calm and it was just silly. the dobies in the basment, lol, and no one seemed to care except furlongs character.lol what a joke. The monsters looked like Kmart halloween costumes! the special effects were terrible! amature makeup artists maybe? – OHH how about the first demon transformation!!! lol what a joke, the man is having doggiestyle sex with this chick, transformes into a demon and the women burst open with tenticles and earthworms!… This movie does not deserve 1 star to be honest. the Ending was kinda cool, well the twist was but in all honestly it was really lame! the girl pretending to hang herself, just as angelia had in the opening scene. she just ties the rope around her waist as well as her neck to prevent her death! lol seriously? how much time did she have to do this? hahaha and shes just all cool, “stupid demons” and she trotts off as people come to retreave the sound system from the house. UGH I cannot even spend anymore time talking about this film it just pisses me off. i expected in a halfway entertaining film but this was such pathetic crap i do not reccomd it to anyone! watch the 80s version of the film, its vastly superior to this piece of crap remake!
This is one of the worst remakes I’ve seen lately that is as cheap and half@ssed as its cover art. The acting was horrible especially from Monica Keena which I should call miss giggles alot, man was she laughably bad. There was no scares except for the mirror part and the demon effect were lame and even the original that was made in the 1980′s had creepier effects than this and is pretty sad that even their acting was more believable. The soundtrack was out of place and was annoying and the house though oozes atmosphere was too obvious and not as spooky as in the original and they could of picked a creepier Angela which was played by the hotter than hell Shannon Elizabeth. The other thing that bothered me about this flick is that it rushed too quickly into things that it left no room for suspense and terror and overdid things, like do we really need to watch a demon orgy, it just became a big mess, insults our intelligence and it was a joke. The thing that kept me from giving it a one star rating is that I like how they kind of showed the house’s history and how demons got there and the whole underground tunnel part was entertaining but that’s about it. Overall it could have been a crazy, creepy, entertaining thrillride that could of surpassed the original but fell flat at everything. AVOID!!
i dont know why this was rated so high.i waited for this movie for over a year, the original being a fave and then to get this.wtf.its worth a rental went by quick but i HATED shannon elizabeth as angela.the original was wayy scarier. for me this wasnt scary at all,i just watched it for the kills and bc ittakes place on halloween to get me in the spirit.
not bad but not ground breaking either. worth a rental
I thought it was no where near as good as the original! But as for a sequel I guess it was ok. But the special effects were terrible I thought. The original looked like real demons, these looked like someone dressed up at Halloween. The acting was terrible too! Especially Monica Keena(who I usually love) and Edward Furlong and Shannon Elizabeth.(also usually good) Diora Baird was best here. She should have had the lead role. But with all the complaints I guess its a fun watch for halloween anyway.
I expected a lot more form this film, the demon effects were not nearly as good as I thought they were gonna be. I remember thinking before this came out,”Why isn’t it coming out in the movies?”. Oh God, now I know, its not theater material, its exactly what it is straight to DVD quality. Some dipshit on imdb said this was better than the original LOL!!He obviously knows dick about movies. Newayz once again something that could have been great if they would have took their time. Stick with the original and you’ll be fine.
Loved it. I’ll watch this every year at Halloween along with Trick R’Treat and the original Halloween. Where you been Furlong? He was pretty good in this. Shannon Elizabeth is still hot, a good ,slick updated Angela.
Night Of The Demons is quite a treat. Although the original is still better, this one is very fun. Had its moments where its just pure retarted but other times, it was quite entertaining. The acting was laughable and the God-awful script humored me. All In All, Night Of The Demons: A good film? Absolutely not. Fun movie? Indeed. I recommend watching it with your mind completely shut off.
I’m sorry, but I just have a hard time wanting to watch a plumped up, drugged out of his mind Edward Furlong. Had it not been for him I might have enjoyed the movie more. Not bad, but not great either. Stop remaking Horror classics!
Fun for some, but definitely not for all. Similar story as the first film, which wasn’t really the charm of the original. Demons show up, do bad things, and people get killed. Pretty simple combination, but you don’t really feel much for any of the characters. The effects were a lot better than the original, and there were some fun gore effects, but it still doesn’t redeem this remake. More information here:

I really wanted to like this movie, but it just didn’t improve on the original…..at all. In the original the demon Angela was incredibly scary to me, but this time around- not so much. If you’re looking for a lot of cleavage and so so creepy atmosphere than this movie is for you. Worth a watch once, in my opinion.
Although I’m a big fan of the original “Night of the Demons”, I was actually really looking forward to this “reimagining”.
From what I heard & read during the various stages of development, I thought this could actually become a big, fun & wild little horror flick.
However, the end result didn’t fully live up to my (considerably high) expectations.
Storywise there’s really not much going on here. We get some stylish flash back scenes as to how the Broussard mansion became haunted, but the story itself is never all that interesting or memorable. (This is probably me being a fanboy, but why didn’t they keep “Hull House” as the name of the mansion? It definitely has a better ring to it, if you ask me.)
None of the characters are remotely likeable & it’s pretty easy to guess who’s going to be our final girl/guy right from the start.
But frankly, by the time the end credits rolled, I couldn’t care less about the fate of any of the characters in this movie.
However, the biggest flaws of this movie have to be the pacing and the main event: the demons!
I mean, nothing ever happens in this movie. A few jump scares here and there, but that’s basically it. I never for once felt that this movie was actually going anywhere, storywise or other. No great plot twists, no big action filled finale, no real conclusion, nothing.
Finally, the demons were totally underused and never frightening or disturbing to look at. The gore was never outlandish or original (as I hoped it would be) either.
Also, Shannon Elizabeth has nothing on Amelia Kinkada as Angela in the original movie.
And I wanted more Linnea Quigley! She still rocks!
Still, I don’t want to say that this is a bad movie. I guess, as a fan of the original, my expectations were just a little too high.
I will give this another chance someday.
And oh, by the way, check out that soundtrack: it rocks!
Doesn’t even come close to the original! Looked thrown together and despite all the effects of our current age, it didn’t do anything for me. Watchable but not repeatable!
Just watched this recently and i am a big fan of the original,it was absolutely awful. Bad acting, effects, i can’t believe bloodydisgusting gave this terrible movie 4 stars
An ok and quite entertaining remake, sadly not as wild and fun as I expected it to be. It seems as Gierasch just didn’t had the balls to fill it up with the right amount of nudity, gore and brutality – for whatever reason. The lack of tension, scariness and atmosphere is also extremely disappointing. Yet, the acting is decent, the demon house looks terrific, make-up and special effects are mostly pretty cool-looking and I totally love the hardrock/gothic-rock soundtrack.
Nice DTV-stuff but unfortunately nothing special.
Can you rate a movie when you’ve only made it 75% of the way through? I can’t tell if i’m more upset that this was poor or because i just spent $15.00 on it. NOTD has always been an 80′s horror gem to me. So, i was kinda interested when they announced a remake. I am neither for nor against remakes. I watch horror and sorta let them do what they do.
Needless to say this was just poor. I couldn’t even get all the way through this thing. For starters the pacing just feels way off. The characters are unlikable. I don’t give a fart in the wind if the director wants to put T & A in a film, but all the stuff in here just felt way too forced. Angela is extremly boring this time around and to be frankly honest i don’t find the house scary at all. The original had passages and rooms that you just didn’t dare enter. They really dripped with terror. This honestly feels like a set on a sound stage.
Is night of the demons (Original) a horror master piece? No. But, it sure entertains a horror fan for an evening. This remake is not much more than some young director trying to “UPDATE” material to his liking. I’m glad Adam wanted to see a punk rock monster gore fest like this when he was young, but he should have kept his film fantasies where they belong….in his head!
I have waited to see this since I heard about it being in production way back when, and my anticipation had been building ever since…
Well, I would like to say that this film is pretty much the deal. It’s brimming with blood and gore and… DEMONS! It’s a fun little popcorn flick and a true crowd pleaser. I would have loved to have caught it in theaters but it wasn’t playing around where I live so I had to get it on Blu-Ray, which, by the way was definitely worth the purchase. I recommend that you hunt it down immediately!
This movie freaked me out, I was like damn. The part where a girl puts lipstick inside her boobie, and then it came out of her pussy, I was like holy shit!!!
Finally caught this on Netflix instant last night and got what I pretty much expected. The original is one of my all time favorite 80′s horror film. The remake was alright, but I wouldn’t ever sit through it again. The make up wasn’t scary and just the entire feel of the movie wasn’t spooky or anything.
Great location though!
Very disappointed with this movie, acting was terrible. The original was great…….
Its obviously not as good as the original, but as far as remakes go,This is a good one with a modern feel and some baaaaad bitches!
Crappy. The amount of blood on the actors clothes and face DRASTICALLY changes over and over which I found very distracting. I know they can’t be perfect but jeez, this is bad. I found it silly and boring. But I did like the make-up for the demons, which kept me watching instead of turning it off. I didn’t give a shit about any of the actors. You knew who would be left alive and in what order from the begining, and it was as predictable as nudity in a porn. The Friday the 13th remake was so much better than this and that’s pretty sad…
If you take this for what it is….a movie about sex/drugs/ rock n roll and with a dose of splatter on the side….then you’ll have a fun time with it. As a fan of the original i enjoyed the equally fun layed back vibe in this one. It didn’t try to be more than what it was. A movie you can watch with your friends while drinking some beers.. It has a cool metal soundtrack, wonderful over the top gags, and a cast that are well known in the horror community. I dug it.
I went into this with absolutely no expectations, which may be why I ended up liking it. I’m not sure what type of oscar-worthy acting some of the other reviewers were wanting, but I thought the “Night of the Demons” remake was relatively entertainting. The characters don’t continually make stupid decisions and have, for the most part, beleivable reactions to what’s happening to them. Plus, how can you go wrong with awesome demon makeup and a fantastic goth-industrial soundtrack?
An entertaining, well casted remake of a good film. Some of the scenes were a bit silly, but nonetheless, entertaining.
The eye candy was the crutch that held this remake up. The setup for some wicked party horror was great, but the results were a bit less than satisfying. Not everything was weak, though, as there was a nice intestine feast and a titty/face dismantling. But Edward,if there is ever a Young Frankenstein remake, you will be a shoo-in to play the Feldman Igor character. You got the look lately, brutha. This is an ok watch for a rental, but temper expectations as things aren’t as cool as the cast and production put this forth to be.
Don’t waste your time with this crappy remake. This was one I could not wait for it to end. Watch the original, way better.
OMG, this remake RUINED all my childhood dreams. This movie sucked so bad!! Everybody looked old…like I don’t understand why that guy from the Terminator was in it, Edward Furlong. Poor Shannon Elizabeth…this is what comes to, huh? I wouldn’t waste my time watching this movie & if you do watch it–well I told you so. The movie didn’t really have a storyline, it was so sloppy & rushed.
i dont know why but i actually kinda liked it, i think that because it is so bad in many ways, almost makes it watchable. i would recomend it as one of those funny films to pass the time before halloween comes.
fun and entertaining, far better than the original, faster pace, better effects , better acting, some extremely gory scenes ( I liked the face ripping scene especially).
very entertaining !!:)
Pretty lame movie, with an even more ridiculous ending. I’ve never seen the original so I can’t compare the two, but as a stand alone movie, I was pretty let down. No interesting characters. Not enough violence/gore. Stupidest ending I’ve seen in a long time. I rolled my eyes so many times during this movie, mostly from bad acting. The only upside to this movie is Monica Keena, Edward Furlong, and some decent make up effects. Other than that, this movie is crap.
Excellent remake.
very creepy looking demons in this film, the comedy helps the film as well
While I like a mix of Comedy and Horror this just wasnâe(TM)t the best sort of horror film. It didnâe(TM)t completely bomb. I just wasnâe(TM)t that into it. More character development, less comedy and more of a spooky atmosphere would have made my rating higher. Check out a more in depth review at my Horror Movie/Book review site @ ShiversOfHorror.com
