First of all, I’m really surprised that NO ONE wrote a review for this movie yet. Where is the love for the true all-time classics?

Well, I bet that everyone knows the story of “King Kong” already. The story is abaout Carl Dunham, who wants to shoot the biggest movie of all-time at a secret island. There the actress Ane is kidnapped and sucrifieced to the god “Kong”, a giant ape. “Kong” falls in love with the girl and Dunham’s crew tries to save her…

The movie is amazing for it’s time. The way the story is progressing is very impressive for a movie from 1933. It starts slow, but picks up very early and does have some clever dialogue. The characters are very likeable and the entire cast gives great performances. The special effects by Willi O’Brien are very impressive. He definetely created the “special effects” as we know them today with his “stop motion” technique. Very impressive for such an old movie. Another interresting aspect is “Kong” himself. His face and body speaks a language, so that the viewer can clearly see when the ape gets angry or sad. At the end of the story you can just feel sorry for poor “Kong”. He was doomed to live alone and when he finally found something that he loves, he was doomed to die a painful death.

As you can see, I really love this movie, but you may ask why I didn’t gave it a perfect score. Well, I didn’t really liked the way the character Ane acted towards “Kong”. Sure, she was afraid, but she realized soon that “Kong” did everything to protect her and she was still scared of him and let him die all alone. I know that sounds stupid, but I didn’t liked that, it didn’t felt very “realistic” to me. Without this aspect, I would give this classic movie a perfect score.

This is a all-time classic. If you love adventure, Giant Monster or horror movies, this movie is a must-see for you. A masterpiece!!

The greatest movie of it’s time. A classic monster movie. How does this only have 6 reviews on this site? Granted, it’s not really a “horror” movie persay, but it’s still incredible. The effects in this movie are so well done for a movie that’s 80 years old. If you haven’t seen this movie, go see it! I personally don’t even really like many black and white movies, but this is one I definitely enjoy. The 2005 remake done by Peter Jackson is also a great movie, you can’t go wrong with King Kong. Classic monster movie.
