‘Sinister 2’ Imagery Marks the Return of Buhguul!

Sinister 2

Buhguul is back for more, and can be seen in the very first images from Sinister 2, helmed by Citadel‘s Ciaran Foy.

In the aftermath of the shocking events in SINISTER, a protective mother and her 9-year-old twin sons find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity.

Written by Scott Derrickson (director of the first Sinister) and C. Robert Cargill, the sequel to Derrickson’s 2012 chiller stars Shannyn Sossamon, James Ransone, Robert and Dartanian Sloan.

Look for Buhguul to return to theaters on August 21, 2015.

I was really surprised at how good Sinister was. It had a great atmosphere. Before I watched it, I had no idea they used the music of Aghast for those super 8 movies. I used to listen to ‘Hexerei im Zwielicht der Finsternis’ a lot. If they make the second part as dark and unsettliing as the first one, maybe go easy on the jump scares, it’s gonna be great.

  • horroraddiction

This movie could do without the “creepy” children. They ruined the first movie for me, it was so good right up until the end.

    • J Jett

      horroraddiction i agree 100%.

i second @bloodydisgusting-ff567bd5da0dd6e60ae4dc51bd4e1606:disqus it was good up until the last 15 minutes or so. it’s not my movie, and personally i’m not a fan of going the crazy, supernatural route, but the kids leaping in the house, and being “spooky” in the addict took away. it was creepy, and lost all it’s traction

  • c-s-a78

I personally prefer sinister over insidious!

  • Lykex

Uh, something’s a little off. Why are there 5 kids? I don’t want to spoil the last movie but shouldn’t there be like… 6?

  • ThunderDragoon

It’s already been that long since the first one? Wow, time really does fly. I really loved Sinister. I hope they do a great job with this one, too. Bughuul is one of the creepiest things I’ve seen on screen.

  • Cheshire TrollCat

I was 16 and watched it with a buddy the same age. Lights on, sound off, and skipping the lawnmower scene we made it through the night. Good thing we don’t have little brothers/sisters, we would have been scared shitless. Bought the movie a month ago, Amazing horror experience. The only movie that really scared me.

  • Ghostface

Hehe.. I didn’t really enjoy Sinister much TBH. It was watchable but i don’t need to see it again. I am not really looking forward to part 2.

  • Chrissie-Watkins

If there was a way to take the first halves of Sinister and Insidious and mush them into a whole movie, that movie would kick ass.

    • J Jett

Chrissie, i hadn’t even thought of that but reading what you wrote….HELL YES!! taking the best halves of those 2 movies would indeed be awesome. 🙂

      • Chrissie-Watkins

And maybe throw in the basement scene from Annabelle, I really liked that five minutes of the movie.

  • J Jett

i like the first film but i simply don’t find children (in pretty much any movie ever) to be scary/creepy/threatening. i hope these initial pics above aren’t indicating that this sequel will be focusing on the “creepy” children (more than the 1st film). i hope i’m wrong but i have a feeling this sequel won’t be anywhere near as good as the first film. the 8mm films and especially the freaky as fuck music used during each of those home movies were the scariest parts of the film. we’ll see if the writers came up with anything that comes near the creepiness of those 8mm films.

    • Ruben

Yes in this film the children are mostly the main focus and the murder types were very stupid. I don’t know what changes will be made to the theatrical release but for this film to be good they would need to reshoot more than half of it.

      • J Jett

Ruben, how have you seen the movie? was it test screened or something? (i’m not saying i don’t believe you, i’m just curious if they were doing test screenings). either way, what you said about this sequel is what i figured would happen. that’s a bummer. the first film was pretty good and very unsettling DESPITE the inclusion of the “creepy” kids.

        • Ruben

Yes I went to an advanced screening of the film and was very disappointed!

          • J Jett

Ruben, thanx for getting back to me. just curious, did you like the first film? i’m bummed to hear the movie falls short of the first film.

          • Ruben

Yeah I was a big fan of the first film. That score was so creepy and I thought the film was well made considering its from Blumhouse. They make such generic crap.

    • Freaky Freelings

I agree with you. I also do not find children scary. Gage, Damien, Village Of The Damned, meh. Macaulay Culkin in The Good Son however, I wouldn’t turn my back on that kid. I pretty much avoid any movies with ghost girls/children on the cover or poster. I do love Sinister though. It’s near perfect up until the final few minutes. I agree with your comments regarding the music and 8mm film scenes. The combination was genius. I don’t mind jump scares when they are done well and the lawnmower reel just about blew my heart out of my throat.

  • Thrash13

Sinister is one of the best horror movies I’ve watched in recent years. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next one!

  • Anthony DeRouen

Sinister was so good on so many levels. I doubt the sequel will capture the same.magic, but I’ll give it a chance.

  • Ruben

I went to an advanced screening and this film was such a pile of shit! I could not believe what my eyes saw. The murder tapes were so lame and tame. Didnt have the creepy atmosphere nor disturbing murder tapes as the first. This one focuses more on drama and not the horror. Cheap scares filled it, plot holes, and genericness. Also the children are the main focus of this. They hardly explored more of Bagul’s mythology. I was so disappointed and I still can’t believe what crap the film was.

  • Harley Mitchel Dirk

I actually enjoyed the first film, despite it’s flaws. The first half definitely set the mood pretty well before the second half almost completely destroyed it. The ‘Bahgul’ thing lead to some creepy imagery despite looking goofy at times. Though what interested me most was the whole Ethan Hawks writer/investigation angle(Like something out of a Stephen King novel)

With all that being said, I don’t understand how Sinister is getting a sequel. The first movie doesn’t exactly set it another one up very well. All I can predict is a rehash of the original plot with a few new details thrown in.

  • GinsuVictim

The first one was SO LAME, but not bad as some of the other crap coming out at the same time. I’ll possibly watch this if it comes to Netflix, but I’m not paying extra to see it.
