Sony Screen Gems has beaten out Amazon and Searchlight in a bidding war for supernatural horror movie Mime, Deadline reports today.
Plot details are under wraps at this time, but it’s said to be a horror movie set in a NYC apartment complex in the middle of a heat wave blackout.
John David Washington (The Creator, Tenet) is set to star. Nanny director Nikyatu Jusu is attached to helm from a screenplay by Stephen Herman (Silent, Black Box), based on his original idea.
The project falls under Screen Gems’ first look deal with Black Phone 2 filmmaker Scott Derrickson, who will produce with Matt Tolmach under his Crooked Highway banner, as well as Camila Grove. Also on the way from Crooked Banner is Bitter Bitter.
That’s not a whole lot to go on at this time, but the talent currently attached has our curiosity.
Stay tuned for more as it arrives.
