By now you guys are probably ready for The Thing to hit theaters already. You’ve read the updates, you checked out our interview Joel Edgerton and you’ve seen the clips and trailers. Now that we’re in the home stretch we have a few video interviews for you.
A few weeks back I had the chance to sit down with cast members Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eric Christian Olsen and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje to talk about their characters, the theories behind John Carpenter’s 1982 film and what it was like working with practical effects onset instead of digital. I also had a chance to chat with John Murdy, the creator of all of the Halloween Horror Nights mazes including The Thing: Assimilation.
In the prequel, “Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.”
Hit the jump to check ’em out. The Thing opens this Friday, October 14th.
