‘C.H.U.D.’ and ‘Home Alone’ Star John Heard Passed Away

Another untimely death cripples this week as it’s being reported that John Heard has passed away at the age of 72.

He was found dead in a Palo Alto, CA hotel after undergoing back surgery. The Santa Clara Medical Examiner’s office confirmed his death, says Variety.

Best known to most as Peter McAllister in the Home Alone movies, us horror fans will always remember him as George Cooper in C.H.U.D. (1984). He was also seen in Paul Schrader’s Cat People (1984), The Seventh Sign (1988), as well as episodes of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” and “The Outer Limits”. He also made an appearance in the first “Sharknado”.

We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.

Well another one down! I liked him in the movie ‘Big’ as well. R.I.P. John!

  • Jada Maes

Sigh… Mr. McAllister was the movie dad every kid wanted. Sleep tight, sir.

CHUD is a fun movie that I am shocked never got a remake or a proper sequel. Yes I know about CHUD 2: Bud the CHUD but it feels more like a script to a Return of the Living Dead sequel and has nothing to do with the original. For the record I love Bud the CHUD and the ending clearly inspired the ending to It Follows.
Anyway John Heard was the ultimate “it’s that guy from that thing” character actor and he always brought his best even in the smallest roles. I personally love the bits he did for Tim and Eric.

Man, another one! Honestly i didn’t thought he was that old, i thought he was like in his 50’s. So sad to hear someone passing away since we have alot of folks who are connected with horror died this week.

2017 hasn’t been as brutal as 2016, but it really seems to be ratcheting it up again over the last 10 days or so.

    • Fracassi

I know – I thought he was much younger too.

  • Meatwad

This man’s resume was huge! Never a big actor as the likes of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, yet still very engaging in all the roles he assumed. I remember him in Tom Hank’s BIG and the revamped BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

Goodbye John, you will be missed. R.I.P. buddy.

  • Fracassi

I have to be honest – BIG is a John Heard movie to me. Tom Hanks is great, But Heard’s childish reactions to everything happening cracks me up every time. He was one of the rare actor’s that usually played things serious, but still had great comedic value. Sympathy and best wishes for his friends and family.

  • Munchie

He was fantastic in After Hours as well.

  • Buk Lau

    Sad news again. RIP, man.

He was great in The Sopranos too last movie i watched him in was One Eighty Seven/187 wit Samuel L Jackson like a week ago. Rest easy john

One Eight Seven is criminally underrated. The first time I saw it, I thought John Heard might have been behind some of the attacks. It will be sad when rewatching the John Heard scenes in The Sopranos, considering James Gandolfini shared most of his scenes.

yea Ceasar (Clifton Gonzalez/Collins Jr) is so good in that movie too he in one my fav comedies The Stoned Age he can play all type of roles very underrated actor. Gandolfini death still hurts damn shame

‘We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family.’

I still have no idea what that even means.
