Shocking Spoiler-free ‘Cult of Chucky’ Clips!

Arriving October 3rd from Universal Home Entertainment is the seventh film in the Child’s Play franchise, Cult of Chucky, which takes place in a mental hospital where Nica (Fiona Dourif) is sent after the events of Curse of Chucky.

Universal has sent us four clip from the film that are more character introductions than anything else, although in one a Chucky doll bites one of the patients. Another shows Nica getting shock-treatment with the other having her drugged by the doctor. The final clip sets up Alex Vincent’s return, star of the first two Child’s Play films who returned in a shocking post-credits sequence in Curse. The film ended as if Mancini planned to tie the previous three films – Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky and Curse of Chucky – together in this seventh film.

Brad Dourif once again provides Chucky’s voice, while his daughter, Fiona, will be reprising her Curse role. Also returning are Summer H. Howell (Curse of Chucky) and Jennifer Tilly (Bride of ChuckySeed of Chucky and Curse of Chucky).

[FrightFest Review] ‘Cult of Chucky’ Cements the Franchise as One of the Best!

In the film, “Confined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions — an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll with an innocently smiling face — a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Chucky’s now-grown-up nemesis from the original Child’s Play, races to Nica’s aid. But to save her he’ll have to get past Tiffany (Oscar-nominee Jennifer Tilly), Chucky’s long-ago bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll.

The Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital releases include two featurettes: a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, called Inside the Insanity of Chucky, and a peek into Alterian, the studio behind Chucky’s puppeteering, called Good Guy Gone Bad: The Incarnations of Chucky. The movie also comes with a commentary featuring writer-director Mancini and head puppeteer Tony Gardner.

In addition to the individual release, Cult of Chucky will be part of the Chucky: Complete 7-Movie Collection, also releasing Oct. 3.

Okay so uh….that bitch andy is talking to has red and green eyes…. Ummmm, THAT’S GLENDA!!!!

    • Ninetailz Wdrff

no it is not, Don Mancini confirmed Glen and Glenda are not in the film, this is Andy on a random date it seems, and not having much luck.

      • Phil Golub

Something up there ^ says that Tilly is back in this film.

        • Nicolas Caiveau

She is, there are already photos of her, and she’s in the trailer.

      • Bla Blah

Mancini also confirmed Curse Of Chucky was a prequel back Inn the day multiple times and the twist was that it wasn’t.
Recall, he did have the glen doll on set.
Idk. I think it’s her and we will only find it out in the end, that she’s here eloping Tiffany. Even Andy said that she found him through googling him. I am willing to put my life on it. Even if she isn’t Glenda I can bet either one of them will appear.

        • Nicolas Caiveau

I don’t remember that. I remember that he said that Curse of Chucky would be a “tonal reboot” of the saga, meaning it would be serious again, not a parody.

          • Bla Blah

I remember it. When asked if it was a remake or sequel he said it was a prequel set between child’s play 3 and bride of chucky and prior to that he said they had been trying to do a remake of the franchise but couldn’t because the rights aren’t owned by universal for the first movie. I’ve been following this franchise for a long time. He did say it was a prequel to conceal the plot twist of curse of chucky. Even when it came out I said the twist wouldn’t have a huge effect on people who didn’t walk in believing it to be a prequel. But yes. Mancini has lied before.

          • Nicolas Caiveau

Ok ! I believe you. I missed this interview.

        • Ninetailz Wdrff

Not sure what exactly your implying, i know people who have already seen this movie and attended the premire in london, there were references to Glen and Glenda in the movie but Don said they had to cut them out. also Curse was supposed to be a reboot of the first childs play movie, they had tried to get the green light for it from MGM but they wouldnt budge so they made a sequel. ive watched about every interview out there, there is no info on a “prequel” between Bride and Cp3. please check your facts or link the proof before you make your claims buddy.

          • Bla Blah

Saying glen and Glenda were cut out of the movie indicates they WERE in the movie to begin with so if that is truly the case, then yes. Mancini lied once again.
And I’m not saying curse was a prequel. It’s a direct sequel. I’m saying that Mancini’s original endeavor was a remake but couldn’t get the rights and then he stated they were doing a prequel set between child’s play 3 and bride of chucky and this was the story all the way up until the movie came out when we all found out it wasn’t a sequel.
That’s what makes that plot twist a plot twist. That’s the whole reason for the reveal of chucky having the stitches. Everyone who followed this movie would have believed it to be a prequel up until that point in the movie. I can easily find a source for this as soon as I get to my personal computer. I’ve seen a few articles reference it from reviews of the film but I will find a direct quote if I can. Because throughout the production of curse, Mancini had said it takes place right before bride of chucky but after cp3

Here is just one article that reported the same thing Mancini had said (even that Tiffany would not be appearing in the movie)

        • The chicken man

          • Bla Blah

Yes. Like I said: that was the plot twist of the film

          • The chicken man

That was a pretty rushed dumb comment(mine). What I meant to/should have said was “no Glen/Glenda will not be in the movie”. Just my opinion, but I think I’m right.

  • RD

    ugh the acting… painful

    • Brandon williams

odd it appears like it’s trying to make a call back to older style horror movies where the acting din’t have to be top notch to pull of a great movie, imagine that.

      • RD

Alex Vincent’s delivery is top notch. Perfecting the art of good-bad acting.

  • Zach Cage
