The Creepiest Easter Egg to Look for When You Watch ‘IT’ at Home

Pay close attention next time you watch Andy Muschietti’s IT.

Ahead of the DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD release next January, IT hits Digital on December 19, which means you only have to wait another couple weeks before heading back to Derry to hang out with the coolest kids this side of Hawkins, Indiana.

You surely noticed the nod to Tim Curry’s Pennywise in the “clown room” scene, and fans of Sleepwalkers may have even spotted a blue car that looked mighty familiar. But there’s one creepy Easter egg you might’ve missed, as I personally did.

In the scene where the kids are talking in an alley, patching up Ben after his run-in with the Bowers gang, Pennywise appears in a wall mural, watching their every move…

Keep your eyes peeled when you revisit IT in the coming weeks!

IT arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack/Blu-ray Combo Pack/DVD on January 9, 2018. Best Buy will be getting an exclusive Steelbook, while Target is getting their own version that includes a lenticular cover and “Welcome to Derry” postcards.

Special Features include:

  • Pennywise Lives! –  Discover how Bill Skarsgård prepared to portray the primordial creature known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown
  • The Losers’ Club – Get up close and personal with the teenage stars of “IT” as they bond together during the production,
  • Author of Fear – Stephen King reveals the roots of his best-selling novel, the nature of childhood fear and how he created his most famous monster, Pennywise

  • This movie is amazing, in my opinion is better than the original.

  • Cool. I missed that one in the theatre.

  • zombie84_41

wow missed that one for sure this movie was dope

  • Theron

    Not scarier than the librarian…

    • Trav

True. The librarian was a great touch. This movie seemed to have some really nice subtle scares.

So I had seen this picture with pennywise on the mural well before the movie was released and I was looking out for it both times I saw it in theaters and I did not see it either time. So unless I just simply wasn’t able to spot it, I think it didn’t end up in the theatrical cut.

    • Bla Blah

It was. It only appears during the one part. The first few times the mural appears, Pennywise is not there. It is only when Stan moves out of the way do we see him. That’s the scare factor.
Pennywise isn’t painted into the mural (since he isn’t there the other times). He’s watching them at that particular moment. That’s why he’s only in it for that one split second scene. You didn’t see it because in all the other scenes, he isn’t thwre

  • Marlo Payne

I caught this seen unlike a lot was creepy but amazing film

  • Brandon

They showed this in promo images before the movie came out, which kinda ruined it.
