Every ‘IT’ Blu-ray Deleted Scene Fully Detailed!

Andy Muschietti’s IT is arriving on home video in just under a month (January 9, 2018), and though we’re unfortunately not getting the Extended Cut of the film we had recently been promised, the good news is that the package will include eleven deleted/extended scenes, which together add up to 15-minutes of new content!

But what can you expect from those deleted/extended scenes? A user over on the Blu-ray.com forums already has the Australian release, and he detailed the contents!

Okay, here’s the rundown of extras,” StrayButler91 begins..

  • Pennywise Lives (16:25) – a behind-the-scenes featurette about Pennywise, of course.
  • The Losers’ Club (15:42) – a featurette about the child actors in the movie.
  • Author of Fear (13:51) – an extended interview with Stephen King, who talks at length about writing the book. He mentions that Derry was based off a town in Maine called Bangor.

Deleted/Extended Scenes:

  • “Georgie Catches Boat (Opening Gag Scene)”: When Georgie grabs for the boat in the opening…he gets it and walks away, saying “See you later!” to a frustrated Pennywise. Gotta admit, I laughed.
  • “Stanley’s Dad corrects him (Extended scene)”: Stanley is reciting Hebrew in a synagogue, but his Dad jumps in to correct his pronunciation.
  • “Denbrough family dinner”: Bill sits at the dinner table while his Dad reads a magazine and his Mum washes up. Bill starts talking about their family trip for the year, but his Mum walks off upset. His Dad explains that Georgie was really looking forward to it.
  • “Bill’s Dad looks in the basement, et all”: After Bill has his encounter with Pennywise in the basement, he runs into his father. His Dad has a look in the basement, doesn’t find anything, and tells Bill to go to bed. Meanwhile, Henry tries to sneak out past his Dad, and gets into a car with Victor and Belch. They see Mike ride past on his bike.
  • “Outside the Neibolt house”: Mike, Beverly, Ben and Stanley are outside the house while Bill, Eddie and Richie are inside. Stanley talks about not being able to go inside while Mike comforts him. Ben places his hand on Beverly’s shoulder.
  • “Evacuating the Neibolt house (Extended scene)”: Just an extended scene of the Losers’ Club leaving the house and getting on their bikes.
  • “Stanley’s Bar Mitzvah speech”: Self-explanatory. Stanley delivers a speech after his Bar Mitzvah about “indifference,” during which there’s a brief montage showing what the other kids are up to. He makes a bit of a scene and storms off while Richie claps.
  • “Eddie at Keene’s pharmacy (Extended scene)”: Just an extended scene at the pharmacy as Eddie talks to the girl who signs his cast with “Loser.”
  • “Henry and Bullies wait outside (Extended scene)”: As the Losers’ Club heads into the Neibolt house, Henry sits in his car with his face covered in blood. Belch and Victor are dead with throats slit.
  •  “The Losers find Georgie’s walkie”: Bill picks up Georgie’s walkie right before Henry attacks Mike at the top of the well.
  •  “Denbrough family vacation”: After saying goodbye to Beverly at the end of the movie, Bill and his parents are packing for the family vacation Bill was talking about in an earlier deleted scene. This subplot does kind of enhance the family dynamic. As the car drives away, the camera pulls in to the drain where Georgie was taken. Camera stops, and rain starts to hit the pavement. This would have been a perfect final shot.

IT arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack/Blu-ray Combo Pack/DVD on January 9, 2018. Best Buy will be getting an exclusive Steelbook, while Target is getting their own version that includes a lenticular cover and “Welcome to Derry” postcards.

Intense stuff…Stanley’s Dad corrects him (Extended scene)? Can’t wait for to see that….

    • Saturn

I know, I first heard about that scene a while ago and the anticipation has almost completely boiled over. Hopefully it will live up to all the hype, what with that scene and the one with them leaving the house and getting their bikes!
I’ve not been this excited since I heard that my buddy Johnathon Schaech was going to be fixing the Romero Dead universe with his superior Day Of The Dead movie!

      • Creepshow

You sit on a thrown of lies. He’s no buddy of yours. Those who are closest to him, address him as Johnny Max for his own personal safety. That way he won’t get trampled in public, and end up suffocating under a mountain of women’s panties (and/or men’s tighty whiteys for that matter).

        • J Jett

“He” lets me call him PENNYSCHAECH.

          • Creepshow

            Well…balls. You must be VIP.

          • J Jett

            well….i didn’t want to gloat. 🙂

          • Creepshow

            Pffft!

          • Saturn

            It’s okay J – Creepy’s just jealous, that’s all….

        • Saturn

          Johnny Max?
Ha! You still have to call him that? I guess you’re only a 3rd degree initiate – those of us who have reached the 33rd degree actually get to call him J.M.
And yes – at that level we sometimes get to sleep at the foot of HIS bed……

  • pablitonizer

The georgie walking away sounds interesting, all films should have a B side of some scenes with a cohesive resolution that breaks the story like I’m not supposed to talk to strangers so I walk away…. how it should have ended vibes!

  • McGilli

    Sooooo… NO Pennywise deleted scenes?

    • J Jett

      i know! WTF?!

  • Vinnie Vincent’s Dead Dog

Alot of these scenes should have been included in the original release. The fact they were cut made it a weaker film.

    • Brett Lovejoy

I mean, you haven’t seen them yet, so that’s a pretty bold statement to make. Sure some sound like they will enhance pacing or particular scenes, but the film was already pretty lengthy for a horror movie.

      • Vinnie Vincent’s Dead Dog

I just want a story told well. I don’t really care about how it was ‘long for a horror film’. People and their dwindling attention spans are half the reason films suck these days.

        • Creepshow

Sorry, I zoned out after the first sentence.

          • Vinnie Vincent’s Dead Dog

Apparently didn’t zone out enough to comment though.

          • Creepshow

That was my odd approach of agreeing with you.

  • They are probably saving Pennywise’s deleted origin for Chapter 2.

    • Vinnie Vincent’s Dead Dog

Nah it’s being saved for the prequel film entitled PENNYWISE.

      • Saturn

Which is a Venom origin story.

        • And it will be the “definitive” Pennywise origin story, until Lionsgate gets the rights and releases a direct-to-V.O.D. prequel to the original TV movie.

          • Saturn

I’m really looking forward to when Disney get their hands on IT…..

          • They’ll probably retread the events of the original IT, set up a few major mysteries, and then lazily wrap those mysteries up in the sequel as if they were an afterthought. They will also create a trilogy of IT films and make it up with different directors as they go along, rather than have a solid plan from the beginning.

          • Saturn

Indeed, I can’t wait until they’ve ruined that series in the franchise, and can invent something totally different in different part of the IT uni verse.

        • J Jett

i heard it’s being titled PENNYSCHAECH.

          • Saturn

Hopefully the rumour is true that John IS going to be the new Freddy in A Schaechmare On Elm Street….

          • HAHAHA!

      • Evan3

Now that you’ve said it, this is going to happen. I hope you’re proud of yourself.

    • Micah Unice

Does that include the baby-eating scene everyone was losing their shit over?

      • Only time will tell. I would assume so. Horror movies don’t exist to make sensitive people comfortable (or anyone, for that matter).

      • Weresmurf

That scene was scripted but not shot yet I’m certain.

  • Creepshow

Jeez, nothing can be a surprise anymore. I’m waiting for the Bloody Disgusting article that tells me everything I’m getting for Christmas.

    • Saturn

Nah, that’ll be on the next Walking Dead spoiler.

    • xcalibrate ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      Creepshow; that made me laugh.

    • Chase LeValley

      Spoiler alert: it’s coal.

      • Creepshow

It could be worse. At least it’s not an advanced screening to the new Halloween movie.

        • Necro

Or a surprise personal meet and greet with the Horror GOD himself! He needs no introduction!

          • Creepshow

See, you know the rules. Because you didn’t use the Lord Schaech’s name in vain, you will get everything your heart desires this holiday season, young Necro.

          • J Jett

            LOL!! 🙂

          • Damn I’m so excited for my visit from Father Schaechmas. I just hope when he makes his list and Schaechs it twice, he doesn’t think I’ve been naughty. I’m really holding out for a copy of Day of the Dead Bloodline in my stocking.

    • J Jett

actually i’m glad BD listed out exactly what these deleteds are. personally i don’t find any of them “MUST SEE!”. so it saved me $$$. i’ll buy the eventual unrated/director’s cuts down the road.

      • Creepshow

Well, BD only made the article from what “a user on Blu-ray.com forums” posted. That’s the equivalent of Blu-ray.com basing an article about the horseshit we post.

        • Cal

Hi Creepshow, I’m the one who wrote the post. I had intended to do a quick rundown of the extras, i.e. lengths, and the other forum users asked for deleted scene descriptions, so I provided.
I’m sorry you find my post so untrustworthy and didn’t want to know the contents of the scenes. Next time just keep scrolling.
For the record I was not consulted about my post being the basis for this article. If I was, I would have probably provided more detail.
          Cheers.

          • Creepshow

OMG! I can’t believe I’m talking to “The” StrayButler91 from the Blu-ray.com forums. I want you to know that the pleasure is 100% mine. Thank you for seeking me out in this massive sea that we call the interweb. Best of luck in your future endeavors of being the centerpiece of a John Squires article.
Oh, and for the record…I really really don’t care.
            Na zdrowie.

          • Cal

I’m just going to leave you alone now…like your Dad did.

            Prick.

          • Creepshow

Aw. Slay those message boards, Cal. Slay!

  • Matthew James Demon Pentycofe

Weird no pennywise extended scenes even though the actor who played him talked about scenes that never made it into film? Are they saving these for directors cut and when is that coming out. I wouldn’t waste any money on this. I think it’s best to wait till we get something better.

    • Fredrik Andrés Jansson

I´ve heard they are saving THAT specific scene for Chapter 2.

  • DukeStKing

15 minutes? I need at the very least 16 minutes of content!

  • Georgie’s Arm

Hmm, there are various scenes people who went to pre-screenings talked about that are not present here. Like a much bloodier version of Georgie’s death, the 17th century scene and a flood washing Henry into the Barrens with all the bodies of the children. I hope we do eventually get more stuff in the extended cut, because it’s supposed to be much better due to a not-so-rushed pacing.

  • DeathApeDisco

I’d also prefer an extended cut with a little slower pace.

If they could delete some of the score, which was overbearing to the point of being patronising in the early portion of the film, that would also be good.

But it’s a really, really good film and I’m enormously looking forward to buying a copy.

  • I’d rather have an extended cut with a few additional scenes or alternate scenes added to try and make it a little less like the mangled version of the book they showed in the theatres. Hopefully part 2 will be a little less of a butchered attempt… although given how utterly trashed part 1 was, I won’t expect a miracle.

  • J Jett

none of these deleted/extended scenes sound worthwhile IMO. i liked the movie but at least now i know i don’t need to buy this disc due to no deleteds worth buying.

    • khail19

just the bar mitzvah scene and the henry’s gang scene. the bill’s parents, i could do without, but i guess if it fleshes them out as characters, then okay.

  • Riiiiiiiiiight

Would’ve been good to include the scenes with Bill’s family in the theatrical cut. My exact thought after Bill encountered Pennywise in the basement was, “Didn’t he tell his parents?!?!”

Also, I’m not seeing what I thought would have been an extended sequence in the sewers. I saw the movie twice and both times I couldn’t figure out how Stanley got separated from the other guys before being attacked by the painting woman. Maybe they don’t consider it important enough to add, but I thought it was bad editing.

    • khail19

really? i thought it was just It doing a bit of reality warping/teleportation thing.

  • Weresmurf

Allegedly there was a heap more extra stuff filmed and completed, including a lot of footage of Henry Bowers and his father setting up an abusive relationship. It’s surprising they only put 15 minutes extra on the bluray. Oh well.

  • Evan3

I thought they had shot scenes of Pennywise involved in Derry since puritan times. That seemed like a cool concept for DVD extras (i.e., instead of keeping them as deleted scenes, why not make minis or shorts of Pennywise popping up throughout history?) I also would love a Curry-wise meets (and utterly kicks the ass of) Skaarswise!

    • khail19

I thought they were keeping that in the sequel.

  • khail19

The last one sounded like the last kids’ part in the books. That was very sentimental to me. Maybe they’d do a different take in Chapter 2 instead of just finishing it with Audra

  • JackJonston24

Can you people stop with this overrated movie already ? It was a decent horror movie, nothing else and you are acting like it’s the second coming of Christ

    • mota

Shut the fuck up, don’t like don’t read.

      • JackJonston24

Well i guess now i have to shut up because you said so…..dumbfuck,get a fucking life and move out of your mother’s basement you loser .

        • mota

If I lived in my mother’s basement as you say, you’d be buried under it, along with your parents for giving birth to a useless shit like you. And learn something, people who enjoyed the movie don’t need to read your stupid comment.

          • JackJonston24

Lame response is lame, typical of a pathetic basement dweller, won’t waste anymore of my braincells reading your garbage as you clearly have nothing intelligent to add .

    • The most successful horror movie in a long time is coming out on Blu-ray, why would they not talk about it?

      • JackJonston24

Because we have heard enough about it already, making 1000 articles out of it won’t make it a better movie or will change the opinions of those who don’t care for it .

        • True, but some people do like to hear about it still 😛

        • Okay, but this article isn’t for those people, it’s for people who wanted to know what was in the deleted scenes on the Bluray. If you weren’t one of them, you didn’t have to click on the article.

  • Bud Friesel

Looks like its worth every penny.

  • sweetooth0

Sounds like they’re pulling a Lord of the Rings. I’ll wait for the inevitable double dip with the extended cut which will be used to help promote the second movie.
