Progress on ‘Phone’ Remake Dials in Microvision

Last April it was announced that Ahn Byung-ki would be getting behind the camera for the long, long, long-gestured remake of Phone, a pretty solid Korean horror flick that centered on a reporter who changes her cell phone number after publishing a controversial article that results in death threats. But when a friend’s daughter answers the new phone and exhibits increasingly bizarre behavior, the reporter begins to investigate a mysterious string of deaths that have haunted her phone number’s previous owners. While Imprint Entertainment had come onboard, there has been no movement on the project… until now. The Twilight Saga: New Moon production house Imprint Entertainment has pacted with South Korea’s Mirovision to remake the 2002 Korean horror hit that was also created by Ahn Byung-ki. Is someone planning on telling them that the Asian horror remake biz is D-E-A-D? No word on if Ahn is still attached.
