The LA Times is reporting that Stephen Daldry, the man who directed such Oscar fare as Billy Elliot, The Reader and The Hours, is in talks to direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, the two-part live-action adaptation of Stephenie Meyers’ final book. Daldry joins a list that includes Sofia Coppola, Bill Condon and Gus Van Sant, all of whom have been approached about taking on the fourth film in the Twilight franchise. At this point I ask, who cares? Whomever does it will do it exactly as they’re told to do it. Summit Entertainment might as well have the executives film it themselves and give credit to Alan Smithee.
