Indie writer/director Jason Horton wrote into Bloody Disgusting this morning about his latest effort, Monsters in the Woods, which stars Glenn Plummer (Speed, Saw 2, The Salton Sea), Lee Perkins (Live Evil, The Red Machine, Katiebird), Kristian Bernard (Ride or Die, Sugar Valentine, Vegas Vampires) and Annemarie Pazmino (Edges of Darkness, On Bloody Sunday, Small Town Saturday Night).
The pic follows “a low-budget film crew treks deep into the wilderness to shoot horror sequences for their unsellable indie-drama. They soon find themselves in the midst of their own horror show as they are hunted down real monsters.”
“The plot is semi based in reality,” Horton explains. “When I was shopping Trap to distributors, I actually had one say they would take the movie if I would shoot monster scenes for it and turn it into a creature feature. The idea was so ridiculous considering the plot of Trap that I thought it would make for a good next movie.”
He continues, “We wrapped the “movie within a movie” last week and are shooting the rest up in Big Bear and Malibu in August. The picture attached is of our “movie monster” from that shoot. We’re keeping the real monsters under wraps for now.”
