From Iron Man director Jon Favreau comes Universal Pictures’ Cowboys & Aliens, a new sci-fi genre actioneer that’s in theaters everywhere tomorrow. Featuring the rocking cast of Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Abigail Spencer, Sam Rockwell, Paul Dano and Clancy Brown, the pic takes place in Arizona, 1873, where an alien fleet arrive to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way. Sounds cool, but unfortunately it’s weak sauce:
“ ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ is a bland, faceless, callow, moronic, poorly assembled action movie that felt more like playing with plastic cowboys and Indians than shooting an actual gun. [It] should be reserved for 9-year-olds and their parents who are looking to kill two hours before their park district soccer game.”
