There Are A Lot Of Necromorphs Hiding Under The Snow In This New ‘Dead Space 3′ Footage

DeadSpace3

EA just released twenty minutes of official gameplay for the upcoming Dead Space 3 that includes a lot of half-people and necromorphs jumping out in front of Isaac from the snow. I really hope there isn’t too much of that. What’s most interesting about this video, which you can find after the break, is it shows how the game works alone and in co-op. We get to see the opening sequence done solo, then part of it done with another player in the game. There are extra story elements you’ll get when you play with a friend, but the co-op is entirely optional. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Dead Space 3 releases on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in February 2013.

As fun as this looks, I hate that they added dudes you have to firefight w and they definitely went in a Lost Planet direction which kinda sucks. I will play it of course, I’m really curious how this’ll play out.

Your thoughts mirror my own. It looks great and I’ll definitely play it, but the firefights are a definite turn off, and it just doesn’t look scary at all.

This seems more like a sales pitch to people who haven’t been interested in Dead Space (they have a huge station potentially full of creepy corridors and monster closets, but they only showed off their huge bosses and firefights). I will go ahead and say the drill part was nice, and my only real complaint is the monsters crawling out of the ground (seems lazy and the scares were too fast-paced to have any effect). I’m sure the geniuses behind the survival-horror hit aren’t dumb enough to completely get rid of the oh-shit factor in favor of being “epic and totally awesome.” Bet they’re just keeping the good stuff to themselves until they’ve sold all of the 15 year olds on a survival-horror game.
