Writer Gail Simone and artist Jim Calafiore, the duo responsible for giving us DC’s critically acclaimed “Secret Six”, have turned to crowd-funding site Kickstarter to raise money for their new book Leaving Megalopolis. Simone and Calafiore, join the likes of creators Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith, Dave Sim, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Top Cow, as the latest high profile creators to turn to KickStarter to fund their own creator owned book.
“Leaving Megalopolis” is a thrilling, original 80 page graphic novel of suspense and terror in a superhero universe gone horribly wrong, where a small band of survivors face the horror of both their formerly beloved protectors, and the dark secrets within themselves. Featuring the creative talents of writer Gail Simone and artist Jim Calafiore this is a story of violence, fear, hope and –if they’re lucky– survival. The finished graphic novel will include an introduction by Mark Waid and an extra prose story by Simone.
The Kickstarter campaign was launched Tuesday and is already 1/3 funded with more than $10,000 pledged towards their goal of $34,000. Those interested in helping fund the project can do so online.
